Re: Any single fathers with custody have a positive story to share?
I have two baby mama's. I see my kids everyday. My older boys stay with me, and the younger two are over after school to do homework/hang out/supper. The mum's have their own lives and I pay support for the two youngest. My older boys are like all lads today, hard to find work so I'm helping them build their businesses along side of my own.

I didn't get married btw, just wanted kids. And I was blessed with four awesome ones. The women, when business needs to get taken care of it gets done with dinner and movie.

Re: Any single fathers with custody have a positive story to share?
First, sorry about flipping you off in the other thread. But I'm not a skank as you called me. I have an older brother who bless his heart has always thought with his penis and not his brain. He is a loving father to his son and endured years of crap from his ex. The sad thing was, after my parents retired, and raised their kids, they spent countless weekends traveling back and forth out of town, to help him out.

I myself was young when I married a man with kids and it turned out to be disastrous. It took a few years to get over it. I'm now happily with someone. We don't have kids and I think the whole situation just made me too afraid to have any. Oh well, such is life sometimes. Anyway, best of luck to you.

Any intellectual and or respectable women want to chime in on how you view a man with custody. Is it "at least he is free on weekends", or "too much baggage and obligation on his side" or.......

He would berate any teacher or family member who said anything about his daughters behavior. So they went around with an attitude that they could get away with anything. They talked to him like dirt. It just was too much to deal with.

Re: Any single fathers with custody have a positive story to share?
I was with my girlfriend for 15 years we went through good times and bad and we have s daughter anyway one day the police knock on my door asking if I'm ok I didn't know what the hell they were going on about they left the next day she didn't come back from her job training I got worried I rang my mother who told my she was in a safety house with my daughter.

I was in shock she had said I was crazy and she was in danger all lies a few days later I found under my daughters bed of all places hundreds of bills over 25 grand worth, a few court summons for the house to be taken.

It turns out all the money I was giving her for bills she was keeping and not paying them I have no idea what she did with it all.

I went to a lawyer and she said I was stuffed had no chance of saving the home or getting her into any trouble for what she had done.

Any way after heaps of positive thought and help from some very smart people I never gave up and I am happy to say I saved my home have my daughter full time she is very happy does well at school all my bills are paid and our future is looking great.

It turns out my ex was lying to me for years about everything she is now living from house to house with some junkie she has tattoos all over her body and stinks like she hasn't had a shower in two weeks she owns nothing I have no idea why she did this and wish none of it happened well I'm just glad my daughter has a home and is happy and safe

Life isn't always easy but never give up

Have joint custody of my daughter. Her mom and I are good friends now even though the breakup was unspeakably horrible. Little ones come first always to parents that aren't selfish and treat their kids like a piece of property.

Re: Any single fathers with custody have a positive story to share?
I dated a man with sole custody of his son. The mom had decided she was a lesbian and didn't like parenting when the boy was about two.

I had two sons of my own at that time. The man was desperate to find a wife. He was a good dad, and a very hard working professional. It is just an exhausting lifestyle. He did a good job keeping it all together.

I did not marry him though, for other reasons. He ended up marrying a much younger (and very beautiful) woman who had her own child. She never bonded with his son, as I had not. (The kid had some problems, but did grow up to be a fine young man).

It was just so damned tiring. I don't know what it is about someone else's kids that make it seem like such hard work.

Re: Any single fathers with custody have a positive story to share?
I am 44 and have custody of my 17yr old daughter and soon to have custody of my 12yr old son. I have been divorced for 9 years and 5 of them where the worst years of my life (drugs, jail, homeless, etc.etc). A little over 4 yrs ago I snapped out of it and have been on a mission since to be the best father I can be. I am not rich by any means, just a hard working Carpenter that dropped out of High School at 15 yrs old (went back at 21 for my HS Diploma, not a GED) who pretty much lives paycheck to paycheck. We do not have allot but what we do have we appreciate. I have the utmost love for my kids and made a promise to myself 4 yrs ago that I would live my life for the better of my children. My son is an excellent athlete who is constantly trying to help the the younger kids of any sport that he is involved in (he looks out for the little guy's). He is the Captain of both his Little League Team and Soccer Team and shows great leadership skills (very, very proud of him). His school grades can be a little better (he is a B average student) but I am proud that he seems to give it his all in school. My daughter is more of the intellectual type. Making high Honors every year since she started middle school. She has a gift for art (not from me that is for sure) and being offered full scholarships to a few different Art Colleges throughout the Boston area. She is daddy's little girl.

The 3 of us are extremely close and express our love for one another on a daily basis. I am a proud father and have been blessed and sometimes wonder if I even deserve 2 beautiful kids.

Cool thread. I am not one to put my life story out on the internet. For some reason I felt the need to share it here.

Thanks.

I have full custody of my child with the "mom" not in the picture. It's no easy road, but I am in a stage in my life where we don't have debt, and we have a small income to live on. Being where I am in my life allows me to not have my child in daycare and raised by someone else. We spend our days together doing fun things, playing outside, garden work, walks, etc. Thee is no point in me seeking another mate until my child is grown, it's just not fair on their world outlook to be confused or have a stream of lovers run through their lives.
To all the other solo parents- best wishes and many blessings.

Sounds like his mother bear instincts went into survival mode, instincts he was not taught to have being raised with the male script, overwleming him and preventing him from executing the disipline of a father bear. I think one must transcend thier sex if they are to be a single parent. When I became a single father, my essence was like a weak female, but I got a pass from everyone around me cuz I was a man doing the unthinkable. But what has helped me was transcending both the male and female nature. I was able to do this with the help of a relationship I had/having with a single mom. I'm a single dad with a daughter and she is a single mom with a son.

I have a story about a mother who was a cop who used her friends in the Gastonia PD and Dallas NC police departments to falsely imprison the father. It was called rotten badge I think.

Cops hid evidence that proved the dad was innocent from the prosecuters for their cop buddy. All the dad did was seek custody and they ruined him.

The positive is that finally the dad was released and charges dropped but not before he was ruined and he went face to face with a serial killer

what about a man that wants, needs, deserves custody of his boy, but does not want to subject him to the battle in the pagan court room, with the idea of others deciding the fate of his child, and having the power to do so.

also knowing that those involved dont give a shit about the well being of the boy/girl, or the mother and father, yet only caring for the payment, or how much longer they can obtain payments, in a long, harmful, drawn out process of shit.

lol

here in canada a child can decide the living arrangements at the age of 12 years old.

as long as the parents who they decide to live with is providing necessary needs.

I agree that it is a bad idea to be chasing a mate while being a solo parent. But like love in general, chasing a mate is usually a bad idea anyway. Real love, beyond lust, surely finds you. Sounds like your doing it right by being there for your kid.

I don't have custody but I have never been to court. I have two girls and watch them 5 nights out of the week. I don't know if that's a positive story or not. II still get along reasonably well with their mom.
