Alberta flood victims mostly out of luck with insurance - WTF !?
"Alberta homeowners who hope to make claims with insurers for flood damage will be out of luck in most cases.

That's because not all flooding is covered under most insurance policies.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada says water that comes in through doors and windows — called "overland flooding" — is not covered. ... more at link

"Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Doug Griffiths noted there will be uninsurable losses and warned that property owners aren't intended to profit from the flooding.

"The fact that a person didn't bother to buy insurance doesn't mean the government will pay for it," Griffiths said at a news conference in Calgary.

Property will be restored "back to what it was as best we can," he said.

Griffiths also said there is no insurance for homeowners hit by "overland" flooding. ... more at link

They can fight that in court. Is their any other kind of flooding? Unless they built their house on water, they should have a case.

You're right. Apparently this "overland" coverage isn't even available in Canada; that alone makes me wonder.

Also, Calgary had a pretty good flood in 2005. Much smaller mind you, but still caused a lot of damage. I wonder if that was considered an "overland" flood?

There is a loophole there though. If you have a sump pump, you can say it failed, otherwise the flood wouldn't have happened. - and that is covered. Doubt that one would have worked for the Calgary folks.

Just heard the downtown core will not be 'opening' again until some time next week.

Agenda 21. Do you really think insurance executives sit in their chairs all day figuring out how to maintain the status quo?

The globalist Lucifer scum always have a reason to say what you did is bad, and should not be restored, even if you payed insurance for that outcome.

On the other hand, The good news for canukistani's, is that the reptilians are "Allowing" certain names to be taken off the maps of canada. most specifically the gifts of God with prefixes like "Prince Wiliam ____" "Prince Georges fur murder camp", etc.

But for my american brothers. Do not ever, and I mean ever, trust a kanuckistainian until they stop putting german monarchs on their currency.

Yep you are correct...Tell the adjuster that either your sump pump failed or fake a broken pipe....Problem here is if you are caught falsifying evidence its called fraud and carries a trip usually to the big house or a huge fine at least..Insurance is AWESOME....Until you need it...

Okay, here's an open question.

Your house gets hit by lightening and burns to the ground - that's covered by your insurance (mine anyways) vs Your house getting flooded out by a major rainfall.

How is that different? You can also add that you can't even buy this 'overland' coverage in Canada.

That just means the insurance companies don't pay and the Govt will kick in the money under some 'relief bill'. At least the policy holders know they have been paying high premiums when it means fuck all when it comes time for them to stand behind the contract.

You can't unless your house is paid for - bank insists.

The proper 'overland' flood insurance needs to be offered in Canada. Most other countries have this coverage.

i'd go to the insurance company and take pictures of it being flooded as well. then find out who insures them and see if they are covered.

oh and to the people who are not covered, get all your stuff out and light it on fire. claim the overflood did not put out the electrical fire that was started from water in the walls.

Yeah, its all about to backfire in a big way. Any person caught up in this that has lost their home, and had a mortgage - had insurance. The insurance coverage they apparently needed to cover this disaster according to the IBC (Insurance Bureau of Canada) - isn't even available in Canada. But if you owe money to the bank - they're still going to want it. This could get interesting ... also very sad for the folks caught up in it.

Re: Alberta flood victims mostly out of luck with insurance - WTF !?
Had 6 inches of rain fall in 8 hrs 2 yrs ago...Needless to say destroyed my basement that was fully furnished Figured i was safe as a kitten..insurance adjuster came and assessed...Had 1 question for me...Where did the water come from that flooded your basement...Told him it came from the sky in rain form...He shook his head and told me there is nothing they could do...Immediately phone my home insurance agency...They told me their was nothing they could do to help me....Found out later the only way to protect your self in a time of a flood is to have a sump pump installed in you basement...(((Found this info on the internet...NOT FROM INSURANCE AGENCY))))...Flood insurance only covers broken pipe's in you house....PERIOD....

Sad...time to dump all "insurance".

Agreed....The problem here is if you have a mortgage on the house you live in the bank will drop said mortgage instantly if you do not have full insurance coverage on your house...And you are out on your ass...Its a great scam...it's been screwing people for years....

What you said here is dead on....But i might add that in approx 3 to 6 months from now all of our insurance premiums will jump for house insurance due to the claims made from this disaster....Sad thing is they will fabricate and trump up the number of home owners that made claims in order to justify higher premiums....And in all reality no one is covered in this disaster...I have a family member high up in this mafia called insurance....She is the one who gave me the 3 to 6 month timeline...And yes i feel sick for the folks that think they are covered for this flood...It's a horrible feeling knowing your not covered after the fact...I wonder how many will remortgage their house to cover the costs of repair...The only ones that win here are the banks and the insurance agency's.....Its sicking and thing NEED TO CHANGE....

Same thing in the USA. Two epic scams were concurrently run in the US housing bubble. "Mortgage insurance" was required for a Fannie Mae approved loan. But the private banks collect the mortgage insurance right before they are sure Freddie Mac would write a new loan on foreclosure. On Top of all this TARP "bailed out" the banks who ran this very scam. The Behind the scenes stuff going on now is "Nationalization" of student loans, while the housing GSEs are undergoing their 4th trillion dollar "inter-agency loan"

The goal of a Darwinist, competitive model is a sweet combination of fascism and communism. Insurance companies are actually the think tank for this, and the only thing funding Madison avenue right now. Statism. Midas (canadian) tires. and illuminati children named North West Passage.
