It seems clear that things are heating up – they are beginning to erupt.

Though things are not necessarily causally linked, there is often a chain of seismic disruptions that occur during a short span of time, and when things heat up in one part of, say, the Pacific Ring of Fire, things sometime explode elsewhere down the line.

Could the intense three hour eruption at Bogoslof Volcano be a sign of bigger events to come? There is frequent seismic activity in the Aleutian Islands, to be sure, but there is also the sense of something immense building up from inside an angry earth. ..."

Nishinoshima island south of Tokyo erupts, lava heads to sea

A volcanic bomb shot up about 100 meters into the sky and molten rock rolled down toward the sea on April 21 as Nishinoshima island, about 1,000 kilometers south of Tokyo, erupted for the first time in 17 months.

“Intensive volcanic activity will continue for a while. Lava will eventually reach to the sea,” said Setsuya Nakada, a volcanology professor at the University of Tokyo’s Earthquake Research Institute.

An estimated 100,000 cubic meters of lava has flowed to the surface since the eruption, according to Nakada, who observed the erupting volcano from an Asahi Shimbun aircraft.

"The volcanic activity level of Nishinoshima island is nearly the same level of that in 2014 when it was active,” he added.

Brown smoke mixed with ash was tossed out of the ground intermittently and lava poured out near the top of the island's round vent, as well as at another spot.

The Japan Meteorological Agency announced the eruption on April 20 and warned it would likely continue for some time.

The Japan Coast Guard called for vessels in the vicinity to show vigilance.

Nishinoshima island, part of the Ogasawara island chain, has been slowly but substantially expanding after a series by eruptions that occurred from 2013 to 2015.

Just checked the USD/JPY Daily Chart

there's a "Death Cross" forming on it..

that means the 50 EMA (50-day Moving average) threatens to dive under the 200 EMA. VERY bearish signal!!

BUT could also bounce off it to the upside. Either way, there might be big market movements coming.

- Front and center on Thursday are central bank decisions, first from Japan and later from the ECB and Sweden’s Riksbank.
- The BOJ is forecast to keep the settings on its monetary easing program unchanged as its two-day policy meeting ends. Though inflation remains well below the central bank’s 2 percent target, it’s ticking up.
- ECB officials have indicated little chance of a policy change. The focus will be on any signals from President Mario Draghi that the central bank is debating an exit from its extraordinary stimulus.
- U.S. GDP is due Friday. It’s projected to show the economy expanded at a 1 percent annualized rate in the first quarter, the weakest pace in a year.
- Earnings results continue to roll in with Alphabet Inc., Amazon.com and Dow Chemical Co. among those still to come this week."
