The bolded selections above seems to mean they were digging illegally as the 'owners' don't seem to have been consulted before excavation found the 5ton rock (certainly not the biggest ever moved in that area so it could have been moved there rather than it being in it's original location)

Excavation in an olive orchard is not good for the trees which already makes them money (in theory) that surpasses what the water could bring as Israel has control of the 'taps'

All of that is worth hiding, finding a piece of history would be nothing that would be hidden as it backs up the claim of being their prior. It does show a trend of doing whatever illegal things it takes to get what they want in that asking the owners may have brought a 'no thanks' reply to the question of escavating.

There is no record of the exodus in historical record. There is no archaeological evidence for David's and Solomon's empire. The Old Testament is just the a collection of Jewish revenge fantasies.
