Anonymous Coward User ID: 4469901 Canada 06/27/2013 07:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is quite naive. its not about the job its about the quality of living. 5-6 days a week at 8 hours a day for minimum wage (10$hr where i am) is not going to pay the rent. Then you have to factor in the psychological stresses of work such as backstabbers trying to get you fired (which is a threat to your survival). For example i build computers for a living, the job is a little annoying but it is my passion and i have built upon it. There are times myself and i make not much more than the average worker, that i want to pull my hair out. I assume the OP is stuck in a slave like job. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 25066016 United States 06/27/2013 07:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ideal. But reality is many people never get the jobs that they like. Even then, you face the fact that a large portion of your life is indeed slaving away for crumbs just to live. I agree with OP, no matter what you do, most of the energy you put into work goes to the luxury of others. |

Quoting: Cyklop And all so I can pay to live in a pile of bricks and mortar and use the earths natural resources....what an absolute fucking joke. I could quit my job and go get another but I know it will just be all the same bullshit. Why does it have to be this way? Why do we have to waste so much of our short lives in these horrible jobs? I'm so depressed about this. The thought of having to do this shit until I'm like 80 makes me want to jump off a very high cliff. We are all just like rats fighting for crumbs.....its fucking pathetic and I totally hate it. My dear, you're not the only one...I'm with you I try not to think that way and not to get depressed. At least you control what you're doing though.......and aren't tied to someone elses' schedule all the time. I'd prefer that to doing something I hated just cause I had to and being under the rule of some boss who could care less about me and my needs. As it is though that aside....I would prefer to do a bunch of odd jobs (internet based or otherwise) for my income on my own terms, rather than one exclusively at someone elses'. For one you don't put all your eggs in one basket that way, and two again you're doing it on your own and can walk away when/if you need to. Not perfect but in this life it's as close to it as you'll get beyond having your own business. I totally get this though that said.......all you can do is try to make the best of it. I am learning that as much as you want to, you can't control everything and won't. Sometimes it's best to let go of the idea that you can and make due with what is under your power and let the rest be as it is. We can't alone change the system, it's here and probably will be for a while yet and we have to work through it as best we can. Being depressed and doing nothing won't help us get anywhere within it or outside it. No one is perfect. A babe before walking will first stumble and fall many times but NEVER gives up until he succeeds. Always remember, ultimately, to never follow any person's belief. Your relationship with God is between you and God. If nothing else, remember this: religion = subservience, control and conformity, the same template as EVERY government "Most believers would kill truth if truth threatened their religion." L. K. Washburn "This crime called blasphemy was invented by priests for the purpose of defending doctrines not able to take care of themselves." Robert Ingersoll "If anyone wants to know how God feels, it's a warm light as if the sun is poking through dark clouds and lifting your spirits with pure joy." |

I'm unemployed now for almost 10 months. I see the mornings. I see the birds. I watch the sky at night. All the beautiful days they take away from us. Capitalism was perverted. I still would not choose Fascism or Socialism or Communism, but I've spent 30 years answering to a bunch of dicks that knew less than I did and misused the hell out of me for a powertrip. Circumstances kept me from leaving the area for work. I never had ONE decent boss. ALL assholes. Coworkers plotting against you, those stupid reviews that don't mean SQUAT. If I were 18 again I'd start planning so I didn't have to answer to nobody for nuthin. OP if you are under 30, quit your job and take a risk and try to do something life-changing, something you want to do - cut before you know it you'll be 50 and it's all downhill from there. You will be in a well established rut with no way out. Look for other work. Look for a friend starting a company. If you've got money thing about starting your own business, even if it's a hot dog stand on a good corner. VOW to yourself to change things RIGHT NOW. Start looking at HOW you will do it. If you can, MOVE to an area you like that will inspire you. THINK what you like and what you want and move towards it ... STARTING TODAY. Pray for guidance. Make contacts in that area you are interested in and find out how others have succeeded at it. Best of luck. |

Just show up , do your job mind your own business and go home! I'm a one man company now , it was the best decision I ever made in my entire life! I could never go back! It is as free as it gets! Side note: don't think for a second that once your self employed that the attacks and the games go away ? They don't ! But if you are a true professional ? You will rise to the top! |

It's no easy answer, but then again there never are easy answers. But you need to get out of that place for sure! |

I've never understood the freedom the entrepreneurship is supposed to offer you. You may not be slave to a boss, but from what I've seen, you are slave to your customers, creditors and maybe shareholders. IRS and other gov organizations are crawling up your butt and you can't afford to have sick days, vacations or spend time with your family. Your family is always teetering on the edge of a financial abyss, since the continuation of business is dependent on staving off backstabbing competition and the lasting originality of your business idea(s). If you're starting a run-of-the-mill service (e.g. cafeteria, fastfood joint or grocery store) you've better join a franchise, because otherwise you'll be crushed by the chains. If you're running a franchise-shop, you're back to the starting point: you're slave to the brand. If you're going for something more original and ambitious, you need to suck a lot of investor dick to get even started and face the fact that at least 9 out of 10 business go under in twelve months. |

gus User ID: 26524320 Brazil 06/27/2013 08:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ideal. But reality is many people never get the jobs that they like. this is nearly impossible... every single area of interest is rigged with so much bureaucratic bullshit. let alone the fact that your soul will be consumed from having to deal with low-vibrational people either as clients or colleagues. there are plenty of things that I like doing, but they've all been turned into institutionalized, dead-end bureaucratic jobs which eliminates any possibility for creativity. besides, some of us just can't deal with the boring aspect of having a job. I usually evolve out from a "phase" very quickly. That is, I may have interest in gardening this week but next week I may be taking skiing lessons. That is why the job model really doesn't work for people like me who are still human, not robots. When you're in a job you lose access to most of your creativity and freedom. You lose autonomy - the ability to make your own choices. the only kind of people that able to handle a job for more than 3 weeks are those who are subservient by nature. Others need to constantly shut themselves up in order to cope... and this is done through a guiding motivational force, such as kids, family, money, etc. The problem is that our environment is so stressful today that even the prospect of 'making money' is starting to fail as a motivational force, and so people have to persist in jobs that they've burned themselves out of long ago. |
