Well right off the bat, in the Blaze article, "For the second time this week, a gun owner is under investigation for shooting at a criminal who unlawfully invaded his property."

You can't "shoot at" people after giving them warnings. One of the first things you learn in a CCW class is that you only use your firearm if your life is in danger, not to scare people off. People should know their rights under the law and do what they have to do to protect themselves. If the guy was in trouble for this before the same week, maybe he's just gun-happy.

I learned that you are ok to shoot if your life or someone else's life is in danger, like if someone is lunging at you or your kid with a knife. That's justified. But you can't off people for stealing things out of your car, no matter how much they deserve it.

If someone breaks into your home, you can shoot them, especially if you see them reaching for something. They could be pulling a gun on you and they obviously have no right to be there. As far as the electrician pulling a knife on me, like in that self defense FL example, yes, he is invited into the home to work but I'll be damned if he's gonna stab me, he's getting shot. And yes, I always carry, even when I'm in my home, especially if people are going to be coming in to work-- pest control, roofers, maintenance people, you name it. you never know.

find a reference in the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Torah, the Ketuvim and the Neviim -

basically the Bible -

that has God saying we should use marijuana, or praising it.

i doubt you can, but i am willing to learn.

If marijuana is a gift from God, He will mention it.
 Quoting: beeches

I believe the Bible is true, do you? When God completed the creation, he pronounced everything as "good." Unless you believe that cannabis was somehow created or otherwise came into being after creation, then it must be seen by God as good as well. In addition, I believe that the Bible further advocates moderation in all things. I believe that the real question is whether we use what God gave us in the correct ways. As far as mj goes, I agree that the Bible is silent on this point.

Re: Woops! Obama Ordered Gun Report Reveals Guns Actually Save Lives
A gun report ordered in by Obama has ended up highlighting the fact that legal guns are actually saving lives and diffusing crime. Woops!

In a recent study orchestrated by the CDC and carried out by the Institute of Medicine and National Research Council, it was found that individuals involved in violent crimes who defended themselves using techniques other than carrying a gun were more likely to be injured when compared to those who were carrying a concealed firearm.

All-in-all, the Obama ordered report ended up finding more pros than cons in regards to the right to an open or concealed weapon. The report also reminds us of the numerous causes of gun deaths, citing that most gun deaths are at the hands of those who used a gun for their suicide — not homicide. The report highlights the poor state of America’s suffering mental health. The report states that suicide by guns outweighs the amount of deaths caused by violent crimes by 61%.

I agree with you to an extent. The difference being we all have different instances that can make us feel threatened. while you might be ok till some one comes after you, I might feel threatened as soon as someone enters my property.. I too took the cc class. And like a guy in there said I'd rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6.

The man in the article was 84 years old. He was probably scared shitless. The elderly are targeted a lot.
He did what he felt he had to do to protect himself.
And by and by Christopher Robin came to an end of things, and he was silent, and he sat there, looking out over the world, just wishing it wouldn't stop.

Texas law allows residents to use deadly force

Stone Oak homeowner shoots 2 suspected car burglars:

SAN ANTONIO -

What does Texas law allow when it comes to protecting what is yours?

That question was presented by KSAT 12 News to Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed hours after a 25-year-old homeowner in Stone Oak shot two suspected car burglars, killing one of them, when he caught them breaking into his car around 2 a.m. in the 600 block of Lightstone Drive.

The homeowner told police one of the men was in a getaway car while the other was in the man's vehicle. The man in the getaway car died at the scene.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, no one in the case had been charged. Police say they do not expect the homeowner to face charges.

"You can use deadly force to protect your property in relation to burglary, in relation to theft at nighttime, and when you feel that's the only method you have of protection," said Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed.

Yet big pharma has flourished with a culture of stuffing pills into so many mouths. How many drugged teens or any other drugged person fared on the massive amounts of opiates big pharma has handed out like pez to them? I'll bet you'll find more funerals from big pharma opiate overdoses whether they were prescribed or not. With your line of thinking, you'd be surprised at the amount of "professional" people you've dealt with that are high on opiates and just about ready to lose everything because of their legal or not opiate abuse. You would be even more surprised at the amount of "professional" people you've dealt with that use cannabis on a regular basis. I figure you just picture the 70's long hair stoner or the goofballs that the news loves to cover at Hempfest fairs too. You should find out how many republicans AND democrats have millions wrapped up in big pharma stocks too. You sound like most of my 60 yr old and up relatives and what they still believe...by believing that the government has your best interests at heart. Just reading what they've done to yours/ours Social Security plan should give you an idea of what they care about.

This is exactly what happened with marijuana, but it was Nixon, not Reagan:

More importantly, Nixon made clear several times that he wanted a report which supported his views and 'tough on crime' policies, no matter what the facts might be. To his credit, Governor Shafer delivered instead an honest report, with conclusions based on all the evidence -- even though at the time he was being considered for a federal judgeship (needless to say, he didn't get it).

What will happen next?

a.they will ignore the study and destroy the careers of all involved. Nixon did not have drones, at least, and Shafer did not die in a mysterious car accident.

b. they will construct more and more far fetched studies in an attempt to link gun ownership to things like "choking on cereal"

Eventually you will be bombarded with scary stories the cancerous potential of petroleum based gun cleaners.
