JustinSider User ID: 30414805 United States 06/27/2013 12:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Tampons. And not just because you are female. Tampons are great for survival, use the cotton padding to stop bleeding of a flesh wound, use all the cotton as a nest for a spark to get a flame going, use the cotton and the plastic tube as a makeshift water filter/straw (obviously not going to filter bacteria but atleast you won't suck in dirt, if you find a decent looking water source. Also tampons come individually wrapped in waterproof packs, so your cotton for fire starting will stay dry even when your back pack gets soaked. Among many other things, water purification tablets, a wire saw, knife sharpener, plastic garbage bags (to make solar stills, water traps, or to wrap around foliage and extract water from leaves) paracord, matches, magnesium bar (for making sparks to start fire) So many, but try to think outside the box, be resourceful. Try to make everything have dual uses or more. If something doesn't help you in many ways, it might not be worth taking. I mainly am talking about your lightweight bug out bag. You need to be able to carry it for miles, hundreds of miles even. So think light weight. And start learning outdoor craft. All my talk of food was just a dead herring. In fact, I have a cunning plan. This is not food, but an escape kit. Cpt. Blackadder: Good Lord! A saw, a hammer, a chisel, a gun, a change of clothes, a Swiss passport, and a huge false moustache, I may just stand a chance. Baldrick: Ah.... Cpt. Blackadder: Let's see, what have we here? A small painted wooden duck. Baldrick: Yeah, I thought if you get caught near water, you can balance it on the top of your head as a brilliant disguise. Cpt. Blackadder: Yeeeesss, I would, of course, have to escape first. Ah, but what's this, unless I'm much mistaken, a hammer and a chisel? Baldrick: You are much mistaken! Cpt. Blackadder: A pencil and a miniature trumpet. Baldrick: Yes, a pencil so you can drop me a postcard to tell me how the break out went and a small little tiny miniature trumpet in case during your escape, you have to win favour with a difficult child. Cpt. Blackadder: A change of clothes? Baldrick: Yes sir, of course I wouldn't forget a change of clothes. Cpt. Blackadder: Ah, now that's something, let's see.....a Robin Hood costume. Baldrick: I put in a French peasant's outfit first, but then I thought 'What if you arrive in a French peasant's village and they're in the middle of a fancy dress party?' Cpt. Blackadder: And what if I arrive in a French peasant village, dressed in a Robin Hood costume and there isn't a fancy dress party? Baldrick: Well, to be quite frank sir, I didn't consider that eventuality, because if you did, you'd stick out like a.... Cpt. Blackadder: [interrupting] Like a man standing in a lake with a small painted wooden duck on his head? Baldrick: Exactly! |

Also, I Can carry a heavy rucksack for likes. Aslong as it is comfortable . No, but I am surrounded by active duty USMC, Army and Air Force. Nearly everyone I know is in, and I have been studying all things military since I was a young lad. I'd like to think of myself as educated enough to hang tough with the majority. I train constantly, I hike with my bug out bag multiple times a week, I am very familiar with all military tactics and strategy. I'm in no way shape or form saying I am better than or belittling our military servicemen. Just saying I can hang. Another thing I have done is got my hands on an industrial bag sealer and heavy duty poly bags, and sealed all my critical gear in bags. You don't want matches getting wet, you don't want your first aid kit getting wet. As far as your hand gun question, there is no "best" as there are multiple factors to consider. Caliber- you want higher mag capacity because you will have a better chance of surviving a firefight, you want something that is common and easy to come by. This leads me to say 9mm - internationally one of the easiest found rounds. Also 9mm guns will have higher magazine capacity than .45 More bullets equals more chances of survival. Don't be fooled by people who say you need a .45 because 9mm are for squirls. You can kill anyone with anything. .22 cal can kill its all about how you use it. Obviously. Also .45 is only 2mm bigger than 9mm so people who say .45 is the hammer of god and 9mm can't kill are stupid. It all comes down to training, muscle memory, and harnessing adrenaline. When you get into a threatening situation, you are going to shoot until the threat is gone, meaning you will let rounds fly until they are dead. How many rounds, no one knows, but its best to have a 15-17 round magazine in your 9mm, rather than a 8-10 round mag in your .45 "One thing I learned quickly is that when you are under stress and shooting, you tend to fire more rounds. In fact, many people forced to defend themselves with a gun empty their first mag in the initial exchange" [link to joebarrett.wordpress.com] Good article I used to have a better article printed out that proved all the points so well, that 9mm high capacity is better than .45 low cap, it was written by an international badass who had worked in Interpol and has been in a lot of shootings. Can't find it. :/ Last Edited by JustinSider on 06/27/2013 02:11 PM Guilty: is what our graves will read, no year no family. We did nothing, to stop the murder of people just like us.. |
