That OP article is poorly written.

It says he took a plea deal, but was he actually CONVICTED of the rape or did he plead to a lesser offense? It would seem to me that rape should have landed him in prison a lot longer.

The child he is getting custody of now is not the victim, though the article seems to go out of the way to not make that clear.

The article also goes on to mix in a story of another sex offender victimizing the daughter in the custody dispute.

So in other words, the mother got pregnant by a man on trial for raping his daughter. That mother then fails to protect her child from a brother who must have attacked her while the father was in prison.

I dunno, something stinks about this story. I think it's a propaganda piece.

Seriously, how in the hell is it even logical to take a child away from the parent who has been raising it for 6 years and give it to the parent that has not seen it in 6 years? This would be fucked up even if the loser wasn't a convicted child sex offender but the fact that the loser is certainly ups the fucked uped ness of the situation.

It seems that this guy was falsely accused in the first place, hence none of what you say applies in this case.

I won't even go in depth about how the "haunting" you speak of is a result of how Western society deals with such things in the first place.
