I was raised in the church and turned away from God in my teens and early twenties for all the reasons you stated here. :(

I got lost in the New Age and God convicted me and brought me back to him. It's been almost three years now and I've done more Biblical study a week than I work at my job lol. I find it sad too that I would say 90% of my beliefs are in stark contrast to the organized church because I simply do not see their doctrines supported in the Bible. Most of it is man's traditions, man's ego and pride, man's greed. I had to totally empty my mind of what was indoctrinated into me as a child to see clearly what was being taught in the scriptures. And let me tell you, it is a beautiful, redemptive, and powerful story. :)

Absolutely. I was an alcoholic veteran sitting on my couch wondering why I had done the things I had done... Wondering what the hell we were doing as a nation. Then I just became "aware". The modern Christian

1)First ya have to say a sinners prayer.

2)Then you have to go to church three times a week(At least)..each time giving ten percent of whats in your wallet to the fat dude up the front who drives luxury cars and lives in a mansion.

3)Then you have to learn to hate everyone else thats NOT a fundie seeing them as doomed and not worth your trouble to love or help or feed..as ALL your time and money gets dedicated to the fat greedy pastor up the front..

4)After a while you have to learn to HATE all other fundies or denominations with a PASSION and see THEM as wrong and DOOMED as well..if they so much as disagree with your denominations view on what day to worship..or what to eat..or the rapture debate..or even if adam had a belly button. (Ive seen churches coime apart over this..seriously)

5)You also must LOOK like the world...dress like the world..act like the world...set your church up to look like a rock concert hall..and fornicate and divorce and sleep around with all the women in the church..all the while condemning others of the world who do this. In short..you have to be as CLOSE as possible to what the world IS..but EXCUSE all your "Sins" with the "Im not perfect..just forgiven CRAP"

After doing all of this..THEN..you just might..according to THEM..be worthy of heaven.

THEN...if you do what THEY do (FORGET what they SAY..if you DO what THEY do)..you will feel offended by simple truths like this....

I remember reading in there somewhere where Jesus was having trouble with the puffed up pharisees..who JUST like todays modern so called "Christians"..were giving him a hard time over “doctrinal” issues..and he said to them..something like..

"The drunkards and the prostitutes and the tax men swindlers will get into the kingdom before you."

From what I can ascertain from it..its the ORDINARY "Sinners" who Jesus was referring to who would be more WORTHY of the kingdom then the pharisitical religious ones of the day.

They spent their time debating and arguing and BEING WRONG..YEAR AFTER YEAR..and they did NOT feed anyone..or do any GOOD for anyone..they just DID NOT CARE about ANYone but THEMSELVES...

And if these goats DID do something..cause they all said something like "But Lord..we did many miracles in your name..and cast out demons and stuff..AD NAUSEUM.."

TRY it..go to almost any church for at least three weeks in a row so you can get the gist of what they are on about..what they say and think and do when they are together...what the sermons are always about besides MONEY.

I saw a man slash his wrists on a church step...blood everywhere..and the head pastor just walked right past him..NOT caring..I saw children abused and molested and women sleeping around with all the men in the churches..I saw marriage break ups by the score..I saw head pastors caught again and again with their cock planted in the vaginas of women who were not their wives..ive heard sermon after sermon about money money and more money and if you didnt give God will curse you with illness or death..or send you ro burn in hell..

I saw thousands of fear filled manipulated cold hearted cowering people..afraid of their own shadow..always fearing..guilt tripped into giving more and more and more to the fat greedy pastors who now and then had the GALL to preach about fasting..while their guts hung over their belts.

It's very difficult I can sympathize with the many posters in here. I gave my life to Jesus may,16th, 2011 and have lost many worldly things. Yet, I've gained soooo much more. I too drank (alcoholic) smoked cigs (pack ana half/day) used drugs (many kinds) hated my job even though it paid well and many other shackles society in general offers.

We are under HEAVY Satanic influences and it's not easy to get out from under it. Op, God bless you for wanting to change and realizing your sins and having the courage to repent.

All I can offer you is encouragement and prayers that Jesus help you on this narrow path.

For me less is more, be quick to listen and slow to speak, so many times my tongue got me in such terrible situations. And finally slow to anger, my temper is vastly improved and is still very much a work in progress.

Following what Jesus is saying here is he is saying that the prophecy of Isaiah has to be fulfilled and he is doing that.

So what was that prophecy?

Infiltrating the churches and taking control is crucial to satan's plan, it's true that almost the whole world will be deceived.

I only ever attended church as a child for a few years. I liked going, liked the Jesus story a lot, and was in the choir but there was a lot of pressure on you to take the altar call (I was about 9) and I wasn't sure what it did for people. I thought I had better because of the pressure and oh well whatever, other children were doing it, so when the preacher made the usual 'is there anyone here who wants to open their heart to Jesus?' request, I (you didn't have to go up to the altar, you could just stay in your seat) started to open my heart (which is kinda like a YES, thing) and I sensed this black monolith, similar to the one in 2001 coming towards my heart and I thought uh, that's not Jesus, a stony black thing, shaped like a tombstone (2001 hadn't been made then) and quickly closed up my heart again. I was shunned by that church the next week, but yeah some of these preachers can use the name Jesus but it may not be Jesus that approaches you, guess he had his fingers crossed or mentally substitutes Lucifer (some occultists do) for Jesus.

Anyway, that's my church story. Finally became one without any church involvement at about 40, because, it's was just becoming so obvious that satan is real and the world is going to hell.

Religion corrupted the very nature of human beings which is to seek spirituality and a relationship with Creator; creating awareness of self which translates into treating others better. A win win. But we live in an artificial, anti human world now for the most part. There are still good people out there though.

I think the message of Jesus was to humble oneself, and get pissed off rarely but at the right time.

The Urantia book is a result of one of the Kellogg brothers... It was all supernaturally channeled... It has the allure of truth because of some scientific matters that were not comprehended at the time.. Like plate tectonics. However.. The fact remains that the book was channeled.. It is demonic. Jesus did NOT die by accident... There are not multiple worlds where "Jesus's" are sent... Urantians are some of the most arrogant lost fucks I have ever met.
