we'll just say o.p.'s friend is right (I doubt it, but what do I know?) then...
I'm sticking with earth. I am really not down with years on board an alien vessel while they are supposedly taking me to my "new home". there are so many problems inherent in that scenario that just listing them all will take longer than I want to spend on this post.
