I LOVE that story, if that doesn't tell it all then what does?

Yes, and there are many more like it. Too many to be coincidence or a reflection of our emotions.

Can't watch it again. Have seen it before. Much like Koko the gorilla when he was told his little kitty had died. If you haven't seen it and don't mind wiping a few tears, it's one to watch.

We can never scientifically prove that animals are conscious. Just like we can't prove humans are conscious. We just assume other people are.
How do I know that other humans feel anything at all? I don't. It's an act of faith.

Let's give them the benefit of doubt, and assume they do, and treat them accordingly.

Yes we can.

It's damn easy to do prove.

awake we and animals are conscious and when we are asleep we are unconscious.

I don't know what your trying to twist conscious into meaning!!

If humans were to acknowledge that all life is conscious than the who system would collapse around them. Everything believed would have been a lie and the feeling of fool would set in. Ego keeps the lie perpetuated even though inside we all know the truth.

Look at this article. Does it take a bunch of so called scientists to tell us what we already knew but keep deep inside as to not realize the reality of what we are and what we do? Have we not lived around all this life all of our lives?

That's a great article. Some articles that are a statement of the obvious are annoying. This one was great. Thanks for sharing it.

I've seen animals give up an die when the one they loved was taken from them.

Animals feel emotions.

For the people who claim that animals don't understand the future, watch this- Baboons kidnap and raise feral dogs as pets

they do not feel human emotion.

they do not perceive the future.

they simply react to the moment.

the emotion is in the eye of the beholder.

Re: True or false: The world of created animals- do they feel emotions?
I would argue that animals do feel emotion. It is plainly obvious. They are not "organic" robots like one poster claimed.
The real difference is that they DO NOT judge according to their emotion.
Take for example a pride of lions. When a new male comes in he will kill any ofspring of the old Pride Male. The Liones dont act like a human and call it murder and they DONT hate the new male for it (this is what C.Darwin misinterprets as "Survival of the fitest" - I will posit that he is only right from a very human (judgemental) way of looking at it). She visably feels a loss for her cub - it takes about 2 weeks for her to physicaly overcome the death of her cub. But after this she will sucumb to the new male and have new ofspring with it.

I dont believe that Animal emotion is as deep as human emotion however. Try asking a hungry lion to go on a hunger strike if a nice juicy plate of meat is infront of him cool2 however this now ventures into the realms of free will and not emotion
peace

Absolutely. Sadly many people have their emotions and perception so dulled that they either fail to notice, or don't give it much thought.

I would disagree with you AC - many people (myself included on occasion) have been consciously aware that they are dreaming and continued the dream/sleep.
Science cant prove reality or concious like the origonal poster says. It can only interpret/observe. We take it on faith (almost blind) that there is consciousnes outside of our own, and I do agree that the evidence is overwhelmingly in favor to the point of 100%. I think your making a fine line between consciuos and awake. You must just apreciate the deeper meaning of this word.

conscious [ˈkɒnʃəs]
adj
1.
a. alert and awake; not sleeping or comatose
b. aware of one's surroundings, one's own thoughts and motivations, etc.
[link to www.thefreedictionary.com]

I pulled this meaning from a dictionary on the internet. As you can see at the very beginning of this post we are in a grey area (according to the science/observation and a combination of definitions a and b). Also sometimes when people are awake they are unconsciuosly or subconciuosly doing things. but I digress.
We like to use Science as a definative subconciously, which If you understand my post is all the proof you need to prove that here, Science is not 100% proof of concious.

Absolutely. They often show more emotions than people do. My dog showers me with unconditional love, and would give her life for me or my family. hf

Thread: Hero Dog Rescues Baby!

I would like to share this thread I made a few weeks ago. It's about a dog rescuing an abandoned baby.

I've heard similar cases where an animal would take in a baby animal of a different kind whose mother had been killed . For instance, a dog would take in a kitten, or a monkey would take in a baby bird.

We can learn so much from animals. They are loving, and selfless creatures. hf
