it needs an antibiotic shot. cat's claws and teeth go deep. look for an animal rescue near you.

some funeral homes have doves they release when at burials. the doves will come back to where they live within a day or two. so, such a place may own the bird.

Make sure to clean its wounds, I suggest getting some neosporin because cats have bacteria that will kill birds. You might as well take it to a rehab center and have them deal with it, unless you can get it to respond to feeding and drinking water, then you can try your hand at rehabilitating it, but otherwise the rehab centers will have more effective antibiotics to save the bird.

Also, birds can have mites infested on them. I suggest going to the pet store and getting some products to kill them (You don't want them in your house).

put water in a shallow dish and give it to him. if he's losing blood, he needs water.

Get rid of the damned cat.

Take it to an animal shelter.

Cats are nothing but fucking torture machines for birds.

Your cat does not love you, care about you, or do anything but use you.

Birds, on the other hand, want nothing but to be free of you and your fucking cat.

Sit the dove in a tree and walk away. Quit touching it and leave it alone!

You have caused that dove enough suffering already by inflicting your damned cat into its world.

That dove's blood is on your hands, and that of a thousand other birds.

And nothing will ever take that blood away from your soul.

You harbor a torture machine, called a semi-domesticated cat.

Leave the dove to live or die. Leave the dove to die in pain and alone.

You did it. Walk the fuck away and go make kissy face with your fucking torture machine.

I Think It Would Be Better To Not Handle Him. But Usually Aloe Vera Helps With Bloody Wounds.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12603145

Golly, ya think so?

Not handle it?

How about get your fucking cat out of its whole world.

And not all the aloe vera in the world will heal its wounds... or take it blood off your hands.

Deal with the fucking cat. Get rid of it. OR keep it inside.

here is a good place to get advice

you can get someone there to help you get the antibiotic shot for your bird. it will probably die if you do not get it. cats have a deadly bacteria they transmit to prey when they catch it.

The truth about what kitteh does to wild birds kind of bothers you, doesn't it.

Kitteh is supposed to be all cute and cuddly.

Not supposed to cause bloodshed, pain and destruction.

But kitteh plays by ripping the guts out of living things, then abandons them.

Irresponsible cat "owners" are the source of endless pain.

maybe you can call and see if they're missing a bird.I found out about all of this when my father died. the funeral home did the doves for free (they knew him since years). they said the doves hang out in some cemeteries before going home.

Re: My Cat Just Caught A Young Slightly Bloody Dove... What To Do With It?
OP:

It looks like a mourning dove (not migratory). Keep it in the box with air holes in a quiet and warm place until morning, then take it immediately to the nearest wildlife rehab center. They will take it in, no questions asked and try to save it.

I worked at a wildlife rehab for over 2 years and we have dealt with all kinds of bird problems. Cat-caught birds are especially at risk because the cat saliva is toxic, but the rehab place will give the dove antibiotics and fluids and food. If the injuries are not too bad, the dove will be cared for for a week or so and set free.

My Cat Just Caught A Young Slightly Bloody Dove. I Put Him In A Box And He Is Chilling In The Box, But Then He Decides To Fly And He Flies Into The Fan. Feathers Everywhere. Blood Everywhere. I Put Him Back In Box And Close It. He Seems Cool, I Know Everyone Has Atleast One Trip-Out Session Every Now And That. If You Figure Out What I Should Do With Him, Or What I Should Name Him, Please Reply To This Thread Below.

P.S. This Is Real. It is 6/30/13 And Jesus Is Still Lord.
