A near mid air collision between a Spirit airlines jet and sky diving I assume small single prop aircraft!

Every day a total catastrophic aviation disaster approaches!

If it were not for an on top of things Spirit Airlines pilot ? This could have been a total disaster! I say pull skydiving companies license right now!

At least the single engine pilots license! Just unreal ! Total , epic fail on his part! The aircrafts came with in one mile of each other?

At 14,000 feet ascending I estimate the Spirit jets airspeed at around 300 knots! From the time the pilot was alerted and countered ? I'll bet the whole thing was over in a matter of moments!

Thank you AC tard , for correction!

Near misses at DTW is an ongoing problem ! I will load a pick so folks can see the complexity of the run way system!

You single engine Cessna tards use your brains when flying near this airport!

I live directly under what would have been the collision. The sound of the jet engines was startling! We have WAY too many flights from all directions crossing this airspace, it's not a matter of if......tomato

Ah...yeah. 60mph is 1 mile per minute. So maybe you want to recalculate that 2 minute figure.

This is a very common occurrence. I am a pilot and we get TCAS alerts often and need to change our vertical flight path occasionally to avoid a conflict. It appears to me that the pilot over-reacted to the RA (Resolution Advisory). The RA never needs to be violent and should be carried out in a smooth manner.

Did you read the article? Over reacted? I'm sure Spirit hired him due to his great incompetence ?

When I fly I must have a window seat.

Last flight I had I could see another plane across the pillowed clouds that appeared to be a dozen blocks away...scary stuff!

Don't think we have any idea how close we are to mid air collisions all day, every day... dead

Thanks GT500. Good thread.

Which airport is safer? Love Field or DTW?
