Re: Edward Snowden Blasts Obama in Newly Released Statement!
The man is a freedom fighter not a traitor.

The truth is, anyone who has been paying attention realized long ago that the government has been listening in for a long, long, time.

I seriously doubt their spying has little, if anything, to do with preventing terrorism.

It's all a fairy-tale devised to con the people into thinking the government is 'protecting' them. They know there is absolutely NOTHING they can do do to stop someone who is determined to cause harm, short of putting everybody in jail, which seems to be their ultimate goal.

Snowden shone a light and all the little bugs are worried they'll have to go back under the rock from whence they came.

A surveilled people are NOT a free people

See it doesn't matter if he's a spy or a true American. 50% of people will see it one way and the other will see it different. Divide and concur you can bet the outcome will be what they want. He could have pictures of Obama throwing baby's into a wood chipper and again people would still be divided. Half would say he's saving them the other half would think it's raciest. Well you get my point but either way they would spin it to there advantage. If he was a real threat we would not even hear about it and his ass would be droned. Believe me this is all part of a much bigger plan and I'm sure it will all come clear with time. Patriot act 2.0 on it's way. One great big science experiment... WE STAND DIVIDED that is the bottom line and until we are all on the same page the machine marches on....

I think he has no choice but to stay in Russia, he has no passport, nothing. I think Putin was smart to make a condition that he stop his leaking of info etc. You cannot go to another country and expect them to keep you if you will not stop because then how are they to trust you in their country?

just more attempts to make his espionage look righteous. To any American this guy should be obvious, a spy and traitor. If he felt he was doing something good for Americans, he wouldn't have fled to china and Russia, not exactly places where human liberties are practiced.
Then Putin says "he must stop leaking us secrets" to gain asylum. AKA, I know everything he knows, and I don't want anyone else to know.

Guys, he's not a "freedom fighter" he's a self serving spy, and self promoter. He's no different than David dIcke, Jesse Ventura, or the fat man not allowed on GLP.
He don't wanna help you or your rights, he wants to help himself, and gain fame, that's it. He freaked out and saw a way to become an overnight celebrity, and he got a chance to brag about everything he knows, that's it.

So how has Snowden helped himself? He is now stuck in No Man's Land with no passport and those to whom he would flee being threatened.

What you don't get about the whole thing is that the US is not longer the land " where human liberties are practiced".
This is what he was trying to expose.

Sorry you aren't a fan of Ventura. Guess that means you won't vote for him in 2016. He is the only chance we have that the US might once again become the great nation that it once was!

What's this VENTURA in 2016 thing? Haven't we learned a dam thing in that exhausting 2-year dog race with Ron Paul playing the role of Mechanical Rabbit in '08 and again in 2012? He was set up to DROP OUT BOTH TIMES..as would be Ventura.

Snowden, same thing. The message is 50% TRUTH 50% Nothing..they know people will not notice the missing 50% content.

They just know how predictable the public is to make the same mistake repeatedly and get whipped into another froth.
People will go out and vote instead of ABANDON the game altogether.

Ventura is in no physical shape to take it all the way in the first place. Even if he could he wouldn't be allowed to function and we all know this is a hard-core corporatocracy.

As with Snowden, Ventura will wave around something that is never to be manifest in reality.

My point being...peeps could quit kneejerking false enthusiam which wastes time when HEY OUR COUNTRY IS BURNING DOWN.

We need this time to FIGHT AGAINST THIS MONSTER. There is no time for this crap entertainment.

Stripping a citizen of his citizenship - government has no legal right

_________________________________

Afroyim V. Rusk, 387 U.S. 253 (US Suprme Court Case Vol 387, year 1967)

"Congress has no power under the Constitution to divest a person of his United States citizenship absent his voluntary renunciation thereof. Perez v. Brownell, supra, overruled. Pp. 387 U. S. 256-268."

(a) Congress has no express power under the Constitution to strip a person of citizenship, and no such power can be sustained as an implied attribute of sovereignty, as was recognized by Congress before the passage of the Fourteenth Amendment, and a mature and well considered dictum in Osborn v. Bank of the United States, 9 Wheat. 738, 22 U. S. 827, is to the same effect. Pp. 387 U. S. 257-261.

(b) The Fourteenth Amendment's provision that "All persons born or naturalized in the United States . . . are citizens of the United States . . ." completely controls the status of citizenship, and prevents the cancellation of petitioner's citizenship. Pp. 387 U. S. 262-268.

"In our country the people are sovereign and the Government cannot sever its relationship to the people by taking away their citizenship. Our Constitution governs us and we must never forget that our Constitution limits the Government to those powers specifically granted or those that are necessary and proper to carry out the specifically granted ones. The Constitution, of course, grants Congress no express power to strip people of their citizenship, whether, in the exercise of the implied power to regulate foreign affairs or in the exercise of any specifically granted power."

Perhaps not.

That isn't the matter.

It will not end well for any of us if this legacy of usurping the U.S. Constitution and established Human Rights law is left to stand.

If we allow their illegal activities to continue; if we allow their attempts to intimidate and coerce to become successful; then we will all feel their boots on the backs of our necks.

We are legion.

They are scared.

We may not see the other side of tomorrow.

They will not succeed.

We will win.

This is not about one's self interest.

This is about each of us being a sovereign citizen.

Re: Edward Snowden Blasts Obama in Newly Released Statement!
Edward Snowden’s Full Statement:

“One week ago I left Hong Kong after it became clear that my freedom and safety were under threat for revealing the truth. My continued liberty has been owed to the efforts of friends new and old, family, and others who I have never met and probably never will. I trusted them with my life and they returned that trust with a faith in me for which I will always be thankful.

“On Thursday, President Obama declared before the world that he would not permit any diplomatic “wheeling and dealing” over my case. Yet now it is being reported that after promising not to do so, the President ordered his Vice President to pressure the leaders of nations from which I have requested protection to deny my asylum petitions.

“This kind of deception from a world leader is not justice, and neither is the extralegal penalty of exile. These are the old, bad tools of political aggression. Their purpose is to frighten, not me, but those who would come after me.

“For decades the United States of America has been one of the strongest defenders of the human right to seek asylum. Sadly, this right, laid out and voted for by the U.S. in Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is now being rejected by the current government of my country. The Obama administration has now adopted the strategy of using citizenship as a weapon. Although I am convicted of nothing, it has unilaterally revoked my passport, leaving me a stateless person. Without any judicial order, the administration now seeks to stop me exercising a basic right. A right that belongs to everybody. The right to seek asylum.

“In the end the Obama administration is not afraid of whistleblowers like me, Bradley Manning or Thomas Drake. We are stateless, imprisoned, or powerless. No, the Obama administration is afraid of you. It is afraid of an informed, angry public demanding the constitutional government it was promised — and it should be.

“I am unbowed in my convictions and impressed at the efforts taken by so many.”

Edward Joseph Snowden
