3D-Printed Foot Lets Crippled Duck Walk Again ..
"Born with a backwards left foot last November, Buttercup the duck had never been able to walk normally. But that was until Sunday, when thanks to 3D printing technology, Buttercup was fitted with a custom-designed silicone foot that has him up and walking like a duck."

This is really cool stuff! See Link--Those who can imbed the videos and pics please do.

Nice.

I recently read about an eagle who had a 3d printed prosthetic beak fitted after getting shot.

3d printing is simmering away in the background doing all this great stuff, I'm glad because it means the technology is in use and progressing.

It's going to change the world man, not yet... but soon.

It actually has been used to craft tailored implants, hip replacements etc for people

Atm for replacing whole limbs it is only good for very basic prosthetic parts... I'm talking about your basic "claw" and even then you couldn't print all the parts needed to assemble a functioning prosthesis to the current entry level standard available on the market.

Human prosthetic are a cutting edge field of technology themselves tbh, with some serious advances being made in like, the last 5 years or so.

Check it out.

That video is nearly a year old, that particular arm has advanced even more with amazing stuff being done with the thumb joint (which was always problematic).

You can see from the video that it's pretty reasonable to assume that in the future such limbs will get even better.

So yeah, 3d printing is not yet "high res" (for want of a better term) enough to do the job, however there is no reason it can't be used right now to make user specific custom fittings for cybernetic limbs etc.

If I lost a limb and had one of those Bebionic arms I'd have it all polished chrome and visible gears moving and a smartphone dock on the forearm and stuff.
