They give the impression that your going to die.

Sleep Apnea?

Anybody know?

It's SNAP fast

And a strong pulse in differnet areas is weird to.

I think / hope it is just anxiety.

The jolt is something. I laid there afteward thinking "isn't that what happens whn you die"?

You may wish to speak with your physician:

[link to www.mayoclinic.com]

Myoclonus refers to a quick, involuntary muscle jerk. For example, hiccups are a form of myoclonus. So are the sudden jerks, or "sleep starts," you may experience just before falling asleep. These forms of myoclonus occur in healthy people and rarely present a problem.

Most often, myoclonus occurs as a result of a nervous system (neurological) disorder, such as epilepsy, or of a metabolic condition, or as a reaction to a medication.

yeah I was going to say magnesium deficiency. I have researched the different forms of magnesium for a long time and concluded that magnesium chloride is the way to go. Buy the crystals and dilute 1/2 cup of crystals in a cup of water and take it 1/2 a teaspoon at a time per Walter Last

Lots of good information about magnesium chloride at that link

You can buy magnesium chloride by the kilo for cheap at Swanson Vitamins and at iHerb.com

Interesting, sometimes when I'm really tired and am laying down listening to music my body will "jerk" randomly once....only happens when I'm tired and I'm drifting between being awake and falling asleep.

there can be more severe ones, yes. There are also mild ones that can occur, like when you dream about tripping on something, then your whole body jerks. Those do not interfere with other areas of your life.

Haha I get that once in a while. But only when I'm sleeping on my back on my couch. Weird!

(Oh and it happens sometimes at my desk at work don't tell the boss.)

It all started in reaction to a medication but stopping it is the deal.

I was into mega vitamins for years and potassium was important but I quit and I felt good for 10 years. I took calcium and magnesium and phosphorous. I went off everything cold turkey.

I was told once that it happens when your body is too tired and is having a hard time relaxing for sleep. I work outside a lot and some days I'm beaten down tired.
I have found that to be the case for me.

It can be very annoying:

[link to www.medscape.com]

Myoclonus (or electric chorea) is a sudden, brief (most often <100 ms), jerky, shock-like involuntary movement. It may be positive or negative. When positive, the cause is the contraction of a single (or a group) agonist and antagonist muscles. When negative, there is transient (<500 ms) interruption of tonic muscle tone, with momentary weakness or loss of postural tone, for example, asterixis ('liver flap'). Movements are always simple (unlike chorea) and are not suppressible voluntarily (unlike tics).

Re: Full Body Jerks After Lying Down.
The funny thing is at about the same time I went for a physical I ordered all the good vitamins, name brands that I know, and I have everything mentioned above and I have it sitting beside me now to be taken. I guess I sort of intuited the need to go back to my old routine.

I took a beta booker......respiratory distress ensued and then I took a calcium blocker and the jerk and creepy upper back thing happened and today the pulse vibrating thing got to me.

:) on track

Have you thought of supplements that would keep you going so you wouldn't be that tired? It just sounds like during the day you are using up your energy and running out of gas.

This sudden jerking motion can happen from the astral body (soul) re-entering the physical body in the state of consciousness between being awake and asleep- the body awakens and suddenly the soul re-enters causing the physical body to jerk.

Why this phenomenon happens is not always metaphysical of course- the previous posters described various physiological reasons that can be corrected with an improvement in diet/supplements

I eat really well and take 5000 IUs of vit D due to a malabsorption autoimmune disease I have. I'm not too worried about the work, I'm expanding the garden this year with manual tools so putting in new rows and digging up the existing grass is just hard work. I love it though. I sleep like a baby once I get to sleep.
Thanks for the suggestion though :)

I like the soul reconnect idea. I like thoughts beyond the every day medical model. I haven't ever noticed the soul coming and going like that.

I woke to chest pain so since that histrionic nurse yelled at me for taking potassium making me paranoider I will try something else just for today.

Re: Full Body Jerks After Lying Down.
you are in between sleep and awake, at some point your brain shuts off your motor skills so you don't react to dreams/etc in your sleep. It's always when you are in the sleep transition periods going into and coming out of.

Headphones could be the culprit too. Keeping you concentrating some while you are tired and wanting to sleep.

Re: Full Body Jerks After Lying Down.
dont listen to all the "astral body" new ager bullshit.

hypnagogic myoclonus is well documented and is most likely due to something you are ingesting like meds, alcohol, drugs, and stuff like that. it may also be due to a medical condition, such as metabolic syndrome.

i recommend you go down to your local hospital and get your electrolytes tested, complete blood count, liver enzymes, urinalysis, hemoglobin a1c, PTT/INR.

the local hospital where i am at doesnt require a physician prescription to get these tests done.
