MISSING! Where in Hades are all the butterflies this year??!!!
Where are all the flippin butterflies??? I have been raising monarch butterflies for a couple years. I live in Cleveland, Ohio and I have not seen 1 this year. I don't know what is going on but I have not even seen any swallowtail butterflies or any of the common ones. This goes way beyond bees disappearing...it seems like everything else is also slowly going poof. Has anyone else seen this?

I have planted a entire garden full of perennials to attract butterflies and the only thing I am getting is slugs. If this continues long term I have a very bleak view of the future and it has nothing to do with doom dates...it has to do with science and the dying of all plants.

You can thank Monsanto, Bayer and others for the lack of butterflies and bees.

Those who control the food, control the world, dontcha know.

Re: MISSING! Where in Hades are all the butterflies this year??!!!
I live in the Florida panhandle. We used to raise thousands of swallowtail butterflies. Our yard is full of attractor plants for the butterflies and the host plants for the caterpillars. We have had just 1....just a single one this year. Last year more than half the butterflies who "hatched" were deformed and they could not fly ...the deformity was one wing was crumpled up and like a stub. We thought it was correxit (the stuff in the water for the oil spill). The loss of these beautiful creatures is heartbreaking.

haven't seen a butterfly yet this year. Surprisingly, I have yet to see a June bug either. Usually the June bugs start becoming a nuisance right around mid-May.

I wonder if its the late spring we had this year or something more sinister.

I am really trying to figure out the rational behind these politicians that scream about global warming but think that killing native polinators will have no effect on life. Its like they believe a bug cannot provide any benefit to the big important humans and money is much more important.

I have the small white ones called cabbage moths or something,. They look and act like butterflies. I kill every one I see. Got a net and everything.

They destroy the cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower etc.

I have not seen any nice ones at all.

We have tons of bees. I have never seen so many. Idaho.

Yeah, same here in Ireland. Used to be over-run with spiders, horseflies, bugs. In the summer there were loads of bees and lovely butterflies. Despite it being 29 degrees today I still haven't seen a single bee or butterfly. No bugs or ladybirds either. The food chain's disappearing!

The GMO s from Monsanto is killing off all the milkweed and that is a major food source of monarch butterflies.

Same place as the bees.

All dead. We should remove all books and references to the butterfly and the monarch from all literature now.

The Monarch is dead...time to purge history of the beast.

Re: MISSING! Where in Hades are all the butterflies this year??!!!
This reminds me of the time my friend was talking about the disappearing bee's and commented that he never see's butterflies anymore. I told him I see them all the time and he didn't believe me and I was able to point out several butterflies to him in under a minute tops. I literally see them every single day and plenty of bee's too and other things like dragonflies, ladybugs and even rainbows more often than other people. I don't know why and it's strange because I know about the disappearing bees yet I see them all the time while other people don't.
