It all depends on what you mean by "forever".
Quoting: Prostetnik Unofficially, it varies. Scripture says Jonah was inside the whale "for ever", but that only lasted 3 days. The catch here is that if forever means a literally endless span of non-time, as the Pharisees contend, then Mercy lasts every bit as long as the popular Endless Torment that so many of them are enamored with. How the Prince of Peace can find a way to cook billions of lost souls (damned from before birth, per Psalm 58) and still claim that His Mercy endures endlessly is no small tangle of contradictory xmas lights. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8788578 Three days may seem like "forever" to someone imprisoned in the belly of a whale, but in an objective sense is actually a very short time. But as the biblical stories are represented as having external cosmological reality then the question becomes is "forever" the duration of the earth, the sun, or the universe, or is it a span that includes the end of the universe and beyond. If so, then what units of time are "forever" measured in?
