At the June 15 rally, Sunni Muslim clerics used the word "infidels" to denounce both the Shi'ites fighting to protect Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the non-Islamists that oppose Morsi at home. Morsi himself called for foreign intervention in Syria against Assad, leading to a veiled rebuke from the army, which issued an apparently bland but sharp-edged statement the next day stressing that its only role was guarding Egypt's borders. By Thursday, traffic jams were again at their worst, with people complaining of commutes taking hours. Worried about escalating tensions with the gas shortage hitting the country before protests planned for June 30, many offices have been letting their employees stay home in preceding days. Fully functioning electricity networks and the subsiding of fuel shortages, which had prevailed weeks ahead of the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi and disappeared immediately after, have raised many questions about whether the crisis was intentionally created. But top US officials on Wednesday, while continuing to insist the United States was not taking sides in Egypt's political upheaval, sought to untangle the convoluted position taken by the Obama administration. "It's clear that the Egyptian people have spoken," said State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki, when asked whether Washington still considered Morsi the legitimate president... Challenged about the fact that, before his ouster, Egypt already had a democratically elected government, Psaki replied: "It wasn't a democratic rule. That's the whole point." As Apaches started hovering around at their regular late evening hour, one of the journalists received news of attacks on three checkpoints south of Arish. Minutes later, Mada Masr went to see the attacked checkpoints, two of which are stationed on the ring road out of Arish, and found nothing but soldiers sipping their tea in the calm evening breeze of the peninsula. The news of the attacks had already made it to media outlets in Cairo. [link to www.madamasr.com] |

No government in the world has the power to mobilize 33 + million muslims on the streets of egypt demanding Morsi be kicked out. Egyptians did it for themselves. America just wants to take credit now. USA does not enjoy as much influence in the muslim world as it pretends to. Muslims spit on the face of US so called leaders everyday and dont give a shit about Obama or his minions. Obama and US gov desperately wanted Morsi but the egyptians said no way we dont want to be the next saudi arabia. This is good of us as we want Egyptians to have a secular government and secular society. I want to visit the pyramids again. And no, USA DOES NOT RUN OUR ISRAEL! We dont give a shit about USA either. We're sick and tired of America trying to run the whole damn world and then blame the Jews for everything. What are you 6 year old babies who cant run your own countries. Whose stopping ya? If you dont like the Jews in your government, kick them out. But dont go around pretending like its all our fault. You're the one screwing the world not us. Its your Obama who forced Morsi down everyone's throats not us. We were shocked to see USA supporting islamists in Egypt cause we have to live with them side by side. |

Seems like Egyptians Agree With You - Is Egypt's Fuel Crisis Over - Short Answer - NO ...First of all, there have in fact been power cuts and long queues for gas since Morsi’s ouster. I experienced a power cut myself yesterday and I’m lucky enough to live in the quite pleasant island of Zamalek. Journalists who travelled to the Upper Egypt city of Beni Seuf in recent days also witnessed extended queues for gas at petrol stations there ....Did anyone consider the fact that as millions of Egyptians took to the streets, very few people were actually at home or at work using electricity or filling up their cars? It is rational to expect that with business pretty much at a standstill on the anniversary of Mohammed Morsi’s presidency, the demand on domestic energy was actually quite low, meaning we were in a comfortable position for the days leading up and after his ouster. Electricity-generating power stations are by and large run with natural gas, and with demand much lower for that week, it’s likely the capacity would not have been overcome as it has in the past.... Only a few days ago in Alexandria a few teens were thrown off a two-storey height then beaten to death by Pro-Morsi protesters wielding Al-Qaeda Flags. Be that as it may, Egyptians have never felt as safe as they do today, after Morsi’s ouster, which could only mean that The Police were not doing their job before he was deposed yet they are now, versus, let’s say, that they weren’t doing their job before he was deposed and they still aren’t... On June 30 millions of Egyptians protested against their president, Mohamed Morsi, in the largest demonstrations the country has ever seen. Three days later Egypt’s top general removed Morsi from office, saying the scale of the protests left him no choice. But some leaders behind these landmark protests say they were in regular contact with the Army, via intermediaries, as they planned the demonstrations—and that it was clear their movement had the Army’s support. In the days and weeks before the protests, Waleed al-Masry, a central organizer, was in regular contact with a group of retired military officers. These retired officers, Masry says, promised to protect the protesters who turned out on June 30. They said they were reaching out on behalf of the Army’s current commanders. “We didn’t ask them for help. They just offered it,” Masry says. “And we welcomed that.” Masry was a key figure in Tamarod, or “Rebel,” the youth-led group whose campaign to collect signatures against Morsi snowballed into the protests that sparked his ouster...
