Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead had a seafood restaurant on the Third St. promenade in Santa Monica, CA. It was a seafood buffet. The food was great, prices were right, the atmosphere was COOL as hell and fit in with the promenade style and everyone who worked there was happy happy happy.

BTW...anyone who has Carla DeVito with Flo and Eddie as back ground singers?....has got to be pretty damn cool...

Asked my future son-in-law about Todd and his wife (he knows literally EVERYONE on the north shore - been here longer than me), he said they are radically fun!

Just waiting to hear from their head Chef now. :)

Jump at it, OP. The guy is the shit. Open, self-depreciating, and seems to be an overall great guy. That said, like anyone, he could turn-out to be a wank, but you won't know unless you give it a shot.

For me, he's always had my admiration. Saw him in a small venue two years ago and his banter was almost equal to the genius of his songs. He's still got the juice.

Best to you.

Fact,

You can't hold on to a job too long if the boss is a lefty and you're not !
Heads will collide and boss will think their political view is it and that you better go along with it or get out....

So, spare yourself the lost time and wasting talent over trying to rub elbows with a celeb.

Meh, 'rubbing elbows' with celebs is meaningless to me, I'm surrounded by them here - that's why I asked about him in the first place. What interests me most is being part of opening a new restaraunt and creating signature desserts for the menu and having fun doing it. If the owner is a dick, it cancels out the fun.

Google "A Wizard, a True Star" and listen. Amazing and unique musician, writer, producer. I've seen him four times live -- better in person than on record.

Why would you care about his politics? Sounds like a great job.

It's a blessing to have a job at all in these times, but to be doing something you're incredibly qualified for and something that is one of your major personal arts is... fucking amazing.

Much love!!!

It's very tempting - it would also involve menu development

going to sleep on it

Getting to work in Princeville would be an awesome thing. The North side of the island is definitely the most beautiful. I am assuming it is in the shopping center. I can imagine the employment opportunities are far and few between there. Last time I was there I took the hike up to the falls.

At least the roads are better in Kauai. I'll take one lane bridges on the North end over some of those goat paths in Maui around blind curves any day. Either way, rent a convertible. Maui has a load of Mustangs, and Kauai has a load of Sebrings for some reason.

That Hawaiian stairmaster stays on level 10. It is broke. It springs a few leaks and gets your shoes really wet a couple of times. Even the chickens and feral cats give up after awhile. I should post a few pictures from the beautiful waterfall about 4 miles in. I have to convert the format though. I've been blessed to see alot of beautiful places. Kauai northshore is something everyone needs to see. Once you go, it will be a regular stop. When we get back on the plane in Lihue, me and my wife always feel like we left something there.

Kauai is not a best kept secret anymore. There are way too many people up around Haena State Park now. It is goldmine for the police though. Ticketing illegally parked rental cars is like shooting fish in a barrel.

You might be surprised. My guess this is the most advertisement you will ever see that TR has a restaurant. Kauai is laid back and unless you talk to the locals you will probably never know where movies or TV shows were filmed. You could go there and never know the beach the movie "South Pacific" used for a famous scene. They don't advertise. The "W" fell off the Wahini Beach sign and now it is "Ahini" so the story goes.

Take the flight from Bruce at "Wings over Kauai" and get a real history lesson.

For those that asked for an update, things went VERY well at the interview today. I'm pretty sure I got it - the General Manager said she was going to crunch the numbers and get back to me with an offer in a few days.

They are going all out and first class for this restaraunt - really sounds like a lot of fun!

He and his wife are opening a new restaraunt and are looking for a pastry chef.

I've been basically retired since the last restaraunt and bakery I worked for closed in '08. I had full reign, great working conditions and pay and no other offer has since topped it so, I retired.

But.... If he makes me a good offer..

What's the scoop on him?

Conspiracy theorist? Illuminat sell out? Obama lover?

I'm picky about WHO I work for.

That's pretty cool.. don't know a lot about him per say, but he's one of the greatest no so known greats...:)

Thinking he's a big liberal, surly an 0bama lover,
back in the day, group from the home town went to one of his concerts, afterwards he was signing autographs and someone asked him to sign something to 'JIM' he told them he didn't do personals.. they kinda got pissed off about that, these were hard core fans of his..

But no doubt he's always been an amazing talent, and got so many others started up in the businesses... many went on to become better known names than he was/is.. Hall an Oates/Meatloaf come to mind. Sounds like a fun exciting opportunity! Believe he's home base is now Hawaii..
