Obama: dont celebrate the past (Independence Day)
The following is the entire article as published by the Liberty Paper (link included below). I have added my own comments below this.

[link to thelibertypaper.org]

As the country prepares to celebrate its independence from Great Britain President Obama had a completely different message for a group of Congressional Summer interns in Washington:

Obama Speaks to Congressional Summer Interns

“America is a great country. There is no denying this. However, I caution you all as you step forward in your careers. Peer back into history and ask yourselves- Was a revolution truly necessary? Great Britain may not have had it completely right, but they had many things right..."

"...why then on the Fourth of July should you celebrate such a radical break from what is Godly and just? No doubt there are many voices warning you of the harm of big government. They are wrong. Government can provide you with what family and friends cannot. If this is gone what will you have?”

Many in the crowd seemed uneasy, and desperate for some sort of clarification, Julie Barks, an intern from Louisiana State University, asked President Obama, “Are you saying we should not celebrate the birth of our country?”

President Obama responded, ”I believe we should celebrate where we are going. Celebrate moving forward. Not where we have been.”

****************************************************************************************************************************************

Dear President Obama,

We want to first thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to speak to those of us who, as interns, endeavor to positively impact our country through education and experience in ‘we the peoples’ political process. While we are yet early in our political careers, we aspire to hold fast the vision our founding fathers labored much in what we Americans have inherited today.

Americans have learned much from you and your administration shortly after the inauguration. While “hope” was flying high and visions of a new direction were held dearly by the majority that elected you, we began to realize that your speeches, administrative choices, moral compass, relationships with allies and enemies as well as the effort to put into play certain “vices” that could literally affect ‘The People’s’ freedom, espousing transparency that has been short on…well, transparency, and the constant pitting of class warfare and race-based division was the canyon that separated anything we may have had in common; a gulf that continues to widen each passing day.

We moseyed along when you created new positions in the administration to represent and influence its many critical aspects, and then to top it off sweetly you went on and called them “czars”, and fittingly you received the “Spock” brow from us; unelected officials that the American people were paying salaries for yet had no say with who these people were, what they would be doing and what justified your need in attaining “special”, unelected advisors to oversee operations. No…instead, it took media personalities we will categorize under “other” to reveal this and raise the question as to why you chose questionable individuals and permitted them access to high levels of government.

You mesmerized the crowds with dreamy, poetic speeches filled with far-off ideas of a utopian America; a land of fantasy brimming with fairness and equality; a future where every American would have confidence that their finances would be secure and there would be no worries about the mortgages getting paid or filling up the car with gas. And this confidence drizzled from your lips into the mushy minds of a new generation already riding the wagon to that proverbial ‘promised land’; a land of handouts, EBT cards, free healthcare and low-skill jobs with the pledge of raising the minimum wage; all these promises would surely be fulfilled as the rich would be forced into a position where they would have to pay more of their “fair share”, because paying most of the taxes already was still not enough for you or them.

You then began to pontificate from your vast, medical background the need to revamp and renew our healthcare system, clearly already the best in the world, and managing to pit the ‘have’s’ and ‘have-not’s’ against each other in an effort to prick the hearts and emotions and create an artificial feeling of ‘contempt’ that somehow the poor are treated as less then human; that our imperfect healthcare system was a bleak institution unworthy and unfit by your standards. Ironic that those same medical professionals you chided and braised by the proverbial coals cast from your mouth are the same doctors that end up willingly and out of charity eating the bills of many patients too poor to pay for them.

Many Americans became convinced through your speeches that the government was the answer to this problem, and that abject failures of federally established organizations like the USPS, Social Security, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and others in no way reflected that far-off dream of the perfect government-run healthcare system; somehow this new endeavor, this eternal fix to our healthcare system would, against all odds, reason and documented history, be successful.

In all fairness, Mr. President, it was comforting to hear that we were allowed a decision in the matter as you did not make participation mandatory. You simply stated that if we would not obediently hold our hand over the fire, you would cut it off for us.

With great insight you and your administration, and specifically your attorney general, Eric Holder, took an aggressive stance on that pesky southern border issue. With laser-like focus early on in your presidency during a time of economic hostility and tumultuous national division, you garnered the strength of the American government to set up a sting operation and catch illegals/criminals running weapons across our border into theirs and arming drug rings and the like. It was not exactly as the American people envisioned border control, but as anything amounts to more than nothing, well, why not give it a go, eh?

Your hidden agenda beneath a nearly flawless setup mirrored that of a sting operation employed by the former administration in which the involvement of the Mexican government was vital. And with precision you executed that operation completely under the radar, but for some reason left out some critical aspects that would have brought resolve to the now incomplete picture, and at the cost of the lives of American and Mexican citizens.

1. This time Mexico was not informed of operation Fast and Furious.
2. Agents were instructed to allow the guns to “run” without tracking them.
3. Agents on our border were issued bean-bag shooters to defend themselves against criminals who now possessed the firearms we ‘gave’ them.
4. An American border agent, Brian Terry, was killed defending our country with a bean-bag shooter. The federally banned assault weapon used to take his life was issued and ‘lost’ by our government in the Fast and Furious scandal…your scandal, Mr. President.
5. Since this scandal was leaked, you gave us your word that the justice department would exhaust itself in the effort to get to the bottom of it, to which the justice department, under your leadership, has refused to do and continually works every angle to keep a congressional investigation from obtaining all the evidence requested, including the documents your justice department refuses to release. Your attorney general, Eric Holder, remains in contempt, and not that the last part really adds any more weight to this alarming situation that would dissuade many Americans from continually rolling their eyes in the other direction so long as the handouts and promises keep coming.
6. You and your attorney general assured Congress and the American people that there was nothing in the documents particularly damning, but in a midnight decision you cited executive privilege to protect your attorney general and the documents. And, of course, you assured us there was still nothing more to see in those documents.

Your administration, keen on picking winners whether in business or sports, chose to invest billions of tax dollars into companies like Solyndra and other “green energy” endeavors in which most have already filed bankruptcy and closed operations in a few, short years. Was this a simple lack of foresight? Bad luck? Lousy forecasting? Terrible advice from people who insisted you invest “the people’s” money rather than your own? What exactly did you, the companies you invested in, and anyone else involved, whether related by blood or friendship, have to gain from it?

And ultimately, Mr. President, what exactly did the American people gain out of these “green energy” investments, if anything at all?

You showed Ambassador Chris Stephens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods what the statement “we’ve got your back” really means. It was not enough that you withdrew security personnel from Benghazi in spite of Intel proving it should be bolstered, but according to firsthand accounts, you gave the order to ‘stand down’ to any military support during the heat of the attack, in which two Navy Seals disobeyed that order and chartered their own plane to Benghazi to defend fellow Americans with their lives…a selfless act that would not have been required had you the decency to ‘man up’ and send the appropriate amount of backup to Americans in need.

You boldly declared to the nation how terrible an action it was that a video called “Innocence of Muslims” insulting the Islamic faith incited a random mob to violence. You and your administration repeated these talking points in a flurry of excuses to quell the ‘anti-Muslim’ sentiment that Americans, in a post 9-11 world, have every right to feel. Five House Committees, after initiating their own inquiries, concluded that the administration lied to and misled the American people on the events leading up to, during and after the attack.

And you, Mr. President, the leader of the freest nation on earth, as one with a spine of iron laden in rust, stood bravely before the American people and boldly proclaimed you were not ultimately responsible and that instead it was the failure of the intelligence community, whatever that ‘really’ means. And what exactly constitutes as failure? What was it you were not told? And if there was a failure in the intelligence community, why haven’t you or anyone in the administration provided strong evidence for such? Has anyone specifically been held accountable for anything specific?

When it all came down to it, you pointed at someone else. Americans have died defending your incompetence, and because you are set in your ways, you have done little to nothing in response to their deaths. Not one person, not one leader, whether military or departmental, has been cited or charged with the failure to act or defend Americans in Benghazi, but you have so assured us, the American people and the mourning families of those that were killed and injured, that the administration will continue investigating to find out what went wrong.

As if any of the above were not enough, I am reminded of the promise you gave regarding the closing of prisons in Guantanamo Bay. You promised that unemployment would drop. You stated confidently that the economy was in a recovery and that signs of growth were springing up everywhere.

Oh…and shall I mention just a “few” others? The NSA scandal, spying on the AP, Rosengate, hacking, obtaining information without a warrant, electronically spying on our allies, directing the IRS to target conservative groups, your own Attorney General having perjured himself several times under oath, the GSA misappropriation of funds well into the millions of dollars, The New Black Panthers, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius soliciting donations, over 6 million dollars spent by the Veterans Affairs on two trips to Disney World, the use of false email accounts to correspond with government officials, violation of the War Powers Resolution, Sestakgate, arming and funding terrorists, not enforcing current immigration laws while leaving border security in the back seat, and all the other scandals yet to be revealed in the coming days.

No, Mr. President, I will not celebrate some distant, utopian future that remains constantly out of focus and justly shy of reach.

You see, for me and the rest of America, it is all about where we have been that defines where we are going. It is the bedrock and foundation of a country’s people to hold fast to that which is good and carry it on for future generations; preserving those rare and precious gems that reflect a truly free people to think for ourselves and decide where the government’s moral ambiguity muddies the clear water of right and wrong and hold them accountable for it.

To, with conviction, worship and revere our Creator as many of our founder’s did with Him only as the guiding principle by which we live, move and have our being; standing principled upon those commands He established from the beginning of time.

We understand exactly where you come from and where you intend to take us, Mr. President.

The problem for you is ‘we ain’t going’.

We have always had this stubborn thing called “pride” in our country’s heritage, as imperfect as it is, and looking back on history and the roots from which it began is what Americans will ALWAYS do.

That is why when you speak of taxes and use words like “fair” and “spread the wealth around”, we look at you through the lens of the past and categorize you fittingly as a socialist.

When your administration continues to encroach on a Constitutionally free society and control private businesses and corporations, seeks to discourage and limit free speech and regularly injects that “more government” is the answer, we Americans and countless people around the world easily recognize communism when it shows its face.

And, Mr. President, when you so easily give the command to fire on, spy on and enable criminals to murder Americans, lie, deceive and attempt to control the media and other outlets of free speech, disrespect our allies, arm and fund terrorists while defunding our own, leave Americans soldiers and officials to be murdered overseas, approve actions that devalue our currency, continue to allow illegal immigrants to pour into our southern borders, deflect scandal after scandal while casting blame on other departments or the prior administration, and all with a straight face while giving speeches on how much our country has improved since you have come to office, it is nearly a foregone conclusion that we take a simple look around the world and align you with every dictator past or present.

Mr. President, you might have taken this precious time at today’s speech to encourage us to be a generation seeking justice and truth while holding on to our convictions. You could have invoked some anecdote or bit of wisdom from our Founding Fathers that might have stuck with us for the rest of our lives, but we expected far too much from you. You instead chose to belittle what Independence Day means to all Americans because you, yourself, simply do not understand what Independence Day means to all Americans.

Don’t celebrate the past, Mr. President? Translation: Don’t celebrate Independence Day.

After putting all the above in context, we are forced to ask this very controversial question and would be astonished at any response by you.

Mr. President…just whose side are you on, really?

I am glad you brought up that point...it is strange that, of all examples he could have used, decided upon Britain, especially in light of the holiday.

Why would he use Britain as the shining example regarding taxes? The fact that we not only had a serious disagreement regarding taxation without representation and fought Britain to gain our independence.

Why choose Britain?

What this an attempt to pre-program 'the people' in a very passive way to dissuade the real possibility of a revolt against the current administration? I cant think of any other 'good' reason that our president would make such an outrageous statement like this, and not that there aren't plenty of other statements to choose from , but Independence Day?

I know it sounds far fetched, and I sincerely apologize for being redundant, but I have really tried to make sense of his statement.

It just seems that he is doing his best to inoculate himself/the administration as though he knows a backlash is coming and is desperate to quell it at any chance he gets.

I sincerely look forward to your thoughts on the matter.

The part of the italicized speech in quotation is not part of the satire...those were his words.

Yes...the end of the speech where he replied was.

I wonder if he realizes he is the most hated President in US history?

This idiot is the most extreme moran ever to hold office.
The Right Policy is Always Conservative

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President." - Vaclav Klaus
