Anonymous Coward User ID: 499151 United States 07/11/2013 04:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Kids used tohave to suffer through the Brady Bunch, that or go and hang around outside, play a game, walk around... You get the picture. Now, nothing wrong with the Bradys (OK, as an aside, that has to be the name of a new sequel. "Nothing Wrong With the Bradys" It can be about the incestuous and dysfunctional next generation of the clan.)but the show itself didn't posses jump cuts, they held to slow and even static camera work and the sound was subdued compared to what kids see now. This has nothing to do with plot, story or acting. It's all about nervous system excitation. To the modern child's mind, reality seems slow, boring and lacks much to make it interesting at all. Video games have constant events going on to keep them entertained as well as bright colors and so on. Worse, they have no clue what to do when sent outside. When you were a child you could go start a baseball game with friends, go to a park, try to drown yourself in the river or molest a neighbor girl. (Come on, you know that "Playing Doctor" is a felony now, don't you?) Today's kids don't have those skills at all. Their brains have literally been rewired to need nearly constant excitation. They have less ability to pay attention for instance. TL;DR isn't just a joke. It's a mental handicap that has affected millions of people. So, don't blame the kid. You let the outdoors become boring and unpleasant for him. Just pushing him outside won't fix it either. It will take years to rewire his brain. "Kids today!" Brought to you by the parents of today, who are courtesy of the grandparents of today. So, what do you plan to do to fix this? My guess? Nothing much. |
