The 1979 Israel/Egypt peace treaty prohibits large concentration of troops in Sinai without mutual knowledge and consent. More significant / comprehensive than after Mubarak's fall and isolated incidents in the past year Last Edited by rachel3108 on 07/13/2013 07:08 PM |

The operations in Sinai was carried on -with moderation- in the past months, but this time I think it's a part of army's propaganda against MB. Sinai witnessed many attacks -even during Mubarak's rule-, but since some of them are islamists -drug dealers & arm smugglers also there-, army is using the fight there to punch Morsi protestors. From a better view : Morsi supporters are islamists, not terrorists but islamists. In Sinai, some terrorist groups are active, they're -despite being different from MB- are also ISLAMISTS. Sinai was always in war. What surprises me is that it's being "used" too many often in Egyptian media. U should think why. |

Hard to believe there are non-neaderthals in that country still. A conflict in the Sinai is the perfect distraction for the continuation of the coup. A great way to juxtapose the military and the mb. Stability/nationialism VS. Terrorists. |

Yes, in Egyptian media -with the closing of islamic channels- you only have channels which support the military & resistance. They literally dominate T.V right now. The played cards to suppress the fact it was a coup are terrorism-Sinai -, nationalism-claiming that coup was only a demand of the people-. Though another card -used against Algeria once- is racism. You'll find more info about this card which officials in Egypt love to deal [link to en.wikipedia.org] Right now, they hide the coup with focusing their fire at foreigners. Syrian refugees were kicked out in hundreds, many Palestinian pilgrims are stuck now in Saudi Arabia because Egypt "wouldn't allow them to pass into Israel". The media is -officially- cursing at foreigners in general syrians in specific. Wicked stuff. |
