Quoting: talkstory You can rent a two room bungalow with full bath and kitchen for about $125 per month. Food costs about a buck per mealif you eat out every meal. You can rent a scooter for 3 to 5 dollars a day. The women are friendly and the government pretty much leave you alone.... You can stay for 30 days without getting a visa or you can get a tourist visa for 90 days prior to coming. yearly visa can be had for business, marriage, retirement (over 50), and students. I would however stay out of south Thailand. The north is much nicer and cooler. Without all the tourist bullshit Nice, a guy is walking the talk. when u say north is that Issan? I opened a little resort, Monthly rentals, in Chiang Dao about 75 kilometer north of chiang Mai. Lived in Chiang Mai for 5 years and have been here about 2. Totalally surrounded by farm land with beautiful mountain views in 3 directions. I envy you right now but I applaud you for making the choice to be in Thailand. To be surrounded with picturesque views in a peaceful place is truly bliss. |

I don't have tons of them but do have a good amount I may want to bring. Wonder what duty tax is like at customs Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33521902 I have traveled with silver coin into Thailand. No problem. No one asked. I have flown in and out with them. US silver coins are money. Just like a dollar bill. I brought about $100 dollars worth face value last time. no problem. Fly into bangkok and go through customs there, its a lot easier. The smaller airports can be more of a hassle. Oh, there is a place at customs. One side for declared item and one for nothing to declare. Go through the nothing to declare side. Last Edited by talkstory on 07/14/2013 11:21 AM talkstory |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28830497 [link to blogging4living.blogspot.com] I don't know. I think I'd rather eat at McDonalds than to eat rats, bugs, rotten fish, rodents, cow placenta, and pureed entrails. Get out of the trailer much? Thai food is the best in the world. |

I wouldn't even go there for a vacation after I learned how corrupt and vile the Thai public and police are. this also goes for brazil. barbaric people and murderers. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43375205 You must be joking. lol I lived in a two bedroom house for a year. Beautiful tile floors, built in kitchen cabinets, dining room, living room and two bathrooms for 175usd a month. You have to look around to find this. Average for people not in the know is about $300 a month for even a nicer place in a gated community. Rofl why are you putting out such BS talkstory |

Quoting: Roman Kreuziger 43339107 Police take bribes, its no big deal. Women want and even enjoy sex, and time with a man. I really love it there. I've been around the block in my 35 years and I prefer every place I've visited over America. |

Lets say you go right down market and pay 300/mnth rent. That leaves you 300 about $80/week or $11-12 a day for all your outgoings. That's chicken shit, and you'd be scumming i to live half way decent anywhere in Asia on that, let alone Thailand. Sure, you can eak out a living on rice and shit, but that aint no fun. You have to think about medical insurance, phone, transport, nights out at a bar, general bills etc etc. I'm telling you, it's not worth scumming it on a 'budget'. It gets old after about 1 week. |
