Re: Live in Paradise for 600 Bucks a Month? Take me to Thailand
The food is delicious and healthy in Thailand, the best of any kind. Most of the meals is usually some chicken, pork or beef with some rice like the other poster said.

Thailand caters to the nature types or the city dwellers, and I for one can't wait to go back there as this article has served some motivation for me.

Been here for 8 years. Love it.

You can rent a two room bungalow with full bath and kitchen for about $125 per month. Food costs about a buck per mealif you eat out every meal. You can rent a scooter for 3 to 5 dollars a day. The women are friendly and the government pretty much leave you alone....

You can stay for 30 days without getting a visa or you can get a tourist visa for 90 days prior to coming. yearly visa can be had for business, marriage, retirement (over 50), and students. I would however stay out of south Thailand. The north is much nicer and cooler. Without all the tourist bullshit

Nice, a guy is walking the talk. when u say north is that Issan?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28830497

I opened a little resort, Monthly rentals, in Chiang Dao about 75 kilometer north of chiang Mai. Lived in Chiang Mai for 5 years and have been here about 2. Totalally surrounded by farm land with beautiful mountain views in 3 directions.

I envy you right now but I applaud you for making the choice to be in Thailand. To be surrounded with picturesque views in a peaceful place is truly bliss.

Anyone knows what the law is when trying to bring actual physical silver coins is? I don't have tons of them but do have a good amount I may want to bring. Wonder what duty tax is like at customs

I have traveled with silver coin into Thailand. No problem. No one asked. I have flown in and out with them. US silver coins are money. Just like a dollar bill. I brought about $100 dollars worth face value last time. no problem. Fly into bangkok and go through customs there, its a lot easier. The smaller airports can be more of a hassle.

Oh, there is a place at customs. One side for declared item and one for nothing to declare. Go through the nothing to declare side.

stay the fuck out of there!!

they routinely kill foreigners because they know they may have some $$ and because the cops are corrupt most of these cases are ruled a suicide. like falling head first from 10, 20 or 30 story's.

check out best gore dot come and u will see countless cases like I just described.

I wouldn't even go there for a vacation after I learned how corrupt and vile the Thai public and police are.

this also goes for brazil. barbaric people and murderers.

$600 a week and you'd be living like one of those scungy, tye-died pants backpacker types who haggle over a few baht and live in cockroach-infested dorms, thinking it's hardcore (but hating it).

You must be joking. lol

I lived in a two bedroom house for a year. Beautiful tile floors, built in kitchen cabinets, dining room, living room and two bathrooms for 175usd a month. You have to look around to find this. Average for people not in the know is about $300 a month for even a nicer place in a gated community. Rofl why are you putting out such BS

Everything is out in the open too.

Police take bribes, its no big deal.

Women want and even enjoy sex, and time with a man.

I really love it there.

Thinking of moving to the USA tho next year for a spell.

Why on Earth would you want to move to the U.S.? I've been around the block in my 35 years and I prefer every place I've visited over America.

I meant 600/month. But still, it's not BS.

Lets say you go right down market and pay 300/mnth rent. That leaves you 300 about $80/week or $11-12 a day for all your outgoings. That's chicken shit, and you'd be scumming i to live half way decent anywhere in Asia on that, let alone Thailand.

Sure, you can eak out a living on rice and shit, but that aint no fun. You have to think about medical insurance, phone, transport, nights out at a bar, general bills etc etc.

I'm telling you, it's not worth scumming it on a 'budget'. It gets old after about 1 week.

LOL, I think I know your place... football fan right? hiding China poster, - this place is flooded with Chinese tourists now... we're making good money from the trust fund Chinese. Some guys here can't live on less than $2000 a month, others make do on $1000 or less and party every night... if you live in the jungle you get your food for next to nothing, and no tax man breathing down your neck :P What do you need money for? Healthcare is world class, food, utilities etc... only trouble is whitey is a second class citizen here... but that's no biggie - cos I know it's just penis envy

Lol!! Please!!

That's like saying people go to Southern California for one thing (tourist attractions ) or people go to Vegas for one thing (gambling) or wherever!

Stop being some type of Moral Mary. If a guy wants to get laid so be it! News flash, guys been wanting sex for how many thousands of years?!
As long as a guy respects people and their culture then it's all good as far what they want to do!

When guys go out a night to bang here in the states, that's his business as long he respects his surrounding

Wow, people on some moral agenda, lol

I personally enjoy the blog and article, how about the next part
