Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43356768 They ALL know the reason why you are going there, and all I can say is, when there are too many unwanted farangs there who are only after Thai pussy, something is gonna break....and it won't be good. This is only normal (human and animal) behavior. We are all territorial creatures. so when are we turning on foreigners in the first world? |

It's not about getting the poon, throw some cash and mind your manners and you can get laid anywhere (yes, even in good old queen-bee US of A), it's about seeing the world, meeting people who have a completely different world view, getting into scrapes just to find a way out of them, never quitting and always doing what is right and true. It's about being the Doctor, basically. |

Before I moved to France I was living around 20,000 thb in Thailand which is close to the $600 figure the article states. I ate really good and had fun. You can live for more and of course have more things, but you can have a good life and cheap. |

But yeah, you go to a red light district a few times a week and order rounds of drink while still blowing money your $600 will last you 2 weeks. |

Australia guy, those sites you gave out are people who try to work and party every night. Most if those guys would live great if they watched Internet porn instead of partying all the time at the Gogo bars. |

I have relatives there who make around $400 per month and get by, though they know the ins and outs of Thailand very well which many westerners do not. It will be interesting I see what be says in the 3rd part of his series, until then I will reserve judgement of what I think of the articles. So far though I do like what I'm reading. |

Thailand am I sure is such a marvelous country... but it has been infested by people who are there only in search of, let's say "forbidden pleasures"... And watch it, they are not soft on people who want to import drugs, in contrary to what some would think. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 43785235 Belgium 07/21/2013 09:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | cool article on living in thailand on a budget. anyone have experience living there and how fun was it? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28830497 [link to blogging4living.blogspot.com] I can understand you and the author for liking Thailand, but I am somewhat doubtful about his argument for going there. "If you are tired of being a robot on a daily basis where you go to work, come home to eat some crappy McDonalds burger, watch some boring show on TV, sleep...and repeat this on and on for years, this might the article for you. First off a little bit about me in this article I wrote about my experiment trying to move away from the US." If you are living like that, why would leaving the US - not to mention leaving for Thailand - be the only option available ? If that's the way you are living, something must be wrong, but are we quite sure there aren't more adequate ways to remedy the problem ? Maybe it's the way you view life and the world which is the (hidden) issue ? Maybe you don't have any worthwhile goals or purposes in life ? Maybe you think this life is all there is, and so you are in desperate need of getting out of it all you can, while you can ? If that's what's the problem, then yes, I can understand.... But you don't think EVERYONE in the US is living this sort of life ? So why would you have to ? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 43785235 Belgium 07/21/2013 09:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The food is delicious and healthy in Thailand, the best of any kind. Most of the meals is usually some chicken, pork or beef with some rice like the other poster said. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43263573 Thailand caters to the nature types or the city dwellers, and I for one can't wait to go back there as this article has served some motivation for me. Although I practically never have the opportunity to eat it, I love Vietnamese and Thai food. Thai is much more spicy. |
