I had a brown "walk" up to me whilst on an outside dunny in NSW.

I found a cotton mouth snake in our bathroom one morning. Had no idea how it got there. Will be very careful when opening the lid from now on.

Yikes !!! And I thought my experience was bad. This reminds me of something that happened to me 19yrs ago, but this was def worse ... I feel for the guy.
Many years ago I rented a really nice apartment on the ground floor.
The idea of an apartment with a pond just beyond my back patio, & a nature preserve, ( woods ), just beyond that ... only meant one thing when I signed the lease. PRIVACY!
Well, as it turns out, it also meant snakes, & lots of them.
It was bad enough to walk to the mailbox & return to a four foot snake laying across the threshold of my front door. A quick call to the super saw him returned to the water behind the apartment.
Not so bad really. It WAS outside, which is where you would expect a snake to be.
HOWEVER...
As a result of what happened another time there, I never go to the bathroom in the dark. At the time I didn't see any point in turning the light on. I knew where everything was, and the light would only wake me & make it more difficult to go back to sleep.
Did you know, if you step on a snake barefooted you will know exactly what it is !?!
Yup ... There was a snake in my bathroom & I stepped on him! :(
After I peeled myself off the ceiling & managed to turn the light on,
I watched as he slithered out of the bathroom, into the hall, & disappear into a hall closet my roommate had STUFFED with stuff.
I emptied the closed & went thru all the boxes the next day. Never did find that snake.

I moved out two months later when the lease was up ... to a second story !
