Is there a way to treat low grade Urinary Tract Infection without antibiotics?
Or can they go away on their own?
I think I am developing one and cannot take antibiotics. I am recovering and currently under treatment for clostridium difficile intestinal infection, caused by.. antibiotics. so, i cant take another antibiotic.. at least for a couple of years, without MASSIVE risk of relapsing or turning this into a very very serious infection. The medicine I am on for the c.diff right now is Vancomycin, and this does not treat UTi type infections. I had previously been on Flagyl, which did not kill off my infection, and kinda wondering if that triggered it. I am not even sure if this is a UTI. just REALLY bad timing for this!!!!!

Cranberry Juice only treats UTI symptoms, not the bacteria.

So, I am wanting to pursue this the natural way.

I should get one of those urine test strips to find out for sure.

I do think I have had a few minor UTI's in the past and they just went away on their own, but I have no clue.

I have loads of kefir which I have been drinking to help replenish my destroyed good gut flora.. and I know that can also help in yeast infections, so... wondering if that could help if I started taking even more?

Suggestions?

It just seems to be near the urethra. Am female.

I noticed about 3 weeks ago a little scratchy/burning feeling around there for a couple of days, on and off.. and when I peed. Then it went away. Now, 3 days ago, it came back.. and feels scratchy. No idea why. I also was not drinking enough water the past few weeks. Its more scratchy then burn. But a couple of times after peeing, it felt like it was up in there. Very vague feeling. No sharp pains. Nothing like that. Just feels irritated. Up inside though.

Urine seems normal color. No bladder pain.

I wondered if perhaps if it was all the colon pressure and issues I had been having, but, this is the urethra.. would make more sense if it was the vagina or something in that case. But yeah. I had this happen a couple years ago, too. was worse than this, though. It went away on its own. No clue what it was. I am not even entirely sure it is the urethra. Stuff can radiate and referred sensations, so.. who knows.

I wanna treat the infection if it is one.. not just the symptoms.

Plus, something that will be safe since I am suffering from c,diff and recovering and on Vancomycin for that and also pro-biotics. Florastor and Kefir. Just started the Florastor... so nothing that can interfere with those or my stomach/gut issue.

Drink water as soon as you feel them coming on ( as in lots of water, as much as you can and regularly ), It flushes out the bacteria.

Try drinking a water now anyway, can't hurt.

Hope it clears up for you soon.

I use this drink powder whenever I feel an infectino coming on...do a search for cranberry mannose plus probiotics. Otherwise, look into mannose pills.

This won't help the UTI but it is a new treatment for c.diff. Apologies for the, um, unpleasantness, of the subject matter, but I have seen a number of articles where this procedure was tested and is safe:

I know that the idea is disgusting but it makes sense.

vancomycin could be causing your uti, and u wont be able to build up gut flora whilst taking any antibiotics, they mess up the balance of bacteria.

an untreated uti can cause a kidney infection and develop into a blood infection i believe.

try the garlic and other things but reli u shud get off the vancomycin when the course is finished if its safe to do so.

you should speak to your GP because there are many many antibiotics and doctors often use only a handfull, there may be one that will treat both your uti and your other condition.

Actually, cranberry is antibiotic. But the juice cocktail junk is useless. Get AZO tablets at the drug store. Health food stores have pure unsweetened cranberry juice and that is helpful, too.

Nah this started before the Vanco. and was going on prior to this. and off and on. wonder if the flagyl started something, but flagyl is a very low offender for that.

like i said, i have had this before ANY of this, too. so...

nah this is just in the urethra.. whatever it is. bladder seems fine. ive had a bladder infection before, they usually hurt.

You NEED Pyridium (rx) or Uri-Stat (rite-aid). It dulls the pain and helps with the cramping.

But, if you don't get anti-biotics, the infection can go up to your kidneys, so watch out for lower-back pain. Feels like someone punching you.
