Government set to spend £60 million on a new rocket engine capable of sending people into space in just 15 MINUTES
The UK Government has announced plans to provide £60 million for a new rocket engine called Sabre capable of travelling up to five times the speed of sound and taking people to Earth's stratosphere in just 15 minutes. The engine, which stands for Synergetic Air-Breathing Rocket Engine, is built by British firm Reaction Engines which plans to use the technology on a unique 'spaceplane' called Skylon. .
