I believe that Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven is like fishing. You got a big load of fish, but you only keep the good ones, and dump the rest right back.

He made it very clear that God will be tough.

The "world" didn't refer to the globe, as we speak of today.

From John's perspective, and the historical background, "the world" was much narrower in geographics and demographics.

It means specifically Israelis or the lost children of Israel, whom Jesus was sent to.

Needless to say, that is very minority of people within the World today.

Come on; John is way too earlier than Columbus. And what is his profession? Is he a scholar ? His knowledge may give him some vague idea on how big the Asia minor is, but I doubt he knows much about the continents, let alone that how big the earth is or if it is round or flat.

Recall that Israelis spent 40 years in the desert. That was how big their world was. Modern folks can cover that desert on a 4x4 within a day. Their concept of wolrd is definitely not the same as we have today.

The word used is the Greek word "kosmos", which in no way means "the Israelites". The word means "the whole universe".

I am not sure if the word Cosmos had the same substance for those who don't even know how big the earth is. Ancient Greeks invented the word and concept, but the epic adventure by odysseus was only near the coast of mediterrinian sea.
