Are they really trying to convert you, or just sharing their beliefs? which is ok. If you chose separation from God it is your right. Quoting: GameOver! They are trying to convert me. That's the annoying part. You implied that God is a "him" and that he actually exists. You believe he exists, but that does not mean he actually does. Belief systems are fine as long as you have a basis for whatever you believe. But please don't present your belief as matter of fact because it isn't. |

Consider yourself cared for rather than harassed. But if you really wish them to stop, just be honest with them. I'd rather not waste my time helping someone who is completely closed to salvation. As the previous poster said, God blessed us all with free will. |

For this part of the service, he would gather all the children around him and give a brief lesson before dismissing them for children's church. On this particular Sunday, he was using squirrels for an object lesson on industry and preparation. He started out by saying, "I'm going to describe something, and I want you to raise your hand when you know what it is." The children nodded eagerly. "This thing lives in trees (pause) and eats nuts (pause)..." No hands went up. "And it is gray (pause) and has a long bushy tail (pause)..." The children were looking at each other, but still no hands raised. "And it jumps from branch to branch (pause) and chatters and flips its tail when it's excited (pause)..." Finally one little boy tentatively raised his hand. The pastor breathed a sigh of relief and called on him. "Well," said the boy, "I *know* the answer must be Jesus ... but it sure sounds like a squirrel to me!" |

Knowing he is there has made the difference. Keep in mind Op, Im not trying to convert you, only sharing my personal story. Quoting: GameOver! IMO God is actually our pre-programmed survival instinct that all living organisms have. When we use it good things tend to happen. When we ignore it bad things tend to happen. Free will gives us the power to override our survival instincts and most of us do just that. That inner voice that keeps us out of trouble is our survival instinct and not some deity in the sky watching over us. |

Ask them why they them selves view you basically sum you up in judgment as condemned? Ask them if they condemn you? Then ask them if they have to power to condemn anyone? Birds of a feather do flock together and that is for harmony. If you can not get past their judgment of you and you condition of lost and condemnation....get away from them. Just commune with new friends or other friends and make you life not as heavy. The most precious things are the simple things in life, always present in the simplest of minds. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 23017670 United States 07/19/2013 12:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My best friends are Christians and believe in the bible. But I have a different take on things. They keep trying to convert me to believe in "Him". Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43666199 What really irritates me is when they keep attributing good fortune to "Him" rather than simply good luck or even crediting themselves for the outcome. Religious beliefs are a very personal matter. No one knows the empirical truth. I can't stand it when people try to push their religious beliefs on me. That would imply that they know the empirical truth and also that what I believe is wrong. You can believe whatever you want. Good for you. But please don't try to convert others who believe something different. Step 1: Pick up the Bible. Step 2: Read it. Step 3: Make an informed decision instead of asking strangers on a forum for guidance. If you do these things and still reject the Word, then I will be happy to accept your reasoning and bless you accordingly. Peace be to you, brother. |

Peace be to you, brother. this Not everyone who calls themselves a Christian is really a true Christian. Don't be fooled or mislead to hate the truth of CHris because those you know may not really know Christ. Read the Bible for yourself and seek out a real minister of CHrist who can answer your questions in intelligent form. Many who go to church today don't really get the truth from those speaking at the pulpit or those speaking have their own agendas. One has to be careful in judging something from the world's point of view because it is often very wrong, distorted. Know this; Religions were created by humans for a human agenda. True CHristianity is simply a relationship with Jesus Christ. |

When you off load outcomes to "him" that takes a lot of pressure off you and makes life easier to deal with. However relying on "him" to save your butt is not wise. I don't believe in blind faith because that relies on pure luck. I believe in having confidence because that means I did the best I could to put things in my favor. You have to do something right to have confidence while having faith means you don't have to do anything at all. Many people have great lives without acknowledging religion at all. |

Some things just can't be known or understood unless you experience specific things and live a certain number of years. Your friends just care about you. I wish I would I would have understood when I was younger, but then again everything has been right on time. From my own experience, I can tell you honestly he is real. I didn't always believe that and I went to find him and he showed up. You'll figure it out. As I said, all roads roads lead to HIM. |
