Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43692225 I pray that your neighbor poisons your dog. 99% of the time, it's the owner who's dangerous. hey look ghetto fucking trash. the cops will kill your dog soon enough don't worry. I don't even own a pit, numbnuts. And frankly, with your obvious anger issues, I think you've proven my point quite well, thank you. Do us all a favor and don't get any breed of dog, ever. Even the tamest, sweetest dog will take after their numbnut owners and turn psycho, and you clearly don't need any more crazy in your life! |

Good dog"--"correct"--by grabbing by the scruff of the neck, behind the head, like a mother dog carrying her pup--and shake, saying firmly in an authoritarian voice "No, Bad!" Be consistent. ALWAYS correct what you don't want--especially "jumping up" on people "No! No jumping up! Baad!" Those behaviors are not "cute" when a dog--especially a big dog--matures. Consistency. YOU are the "big dog" in the house. The pup should respect your authority. NEVER ignore--or reward--misbehavior. Start immediately before the pup gets confused about what is ok to do, sometimes, and bad other times. NEVER correct behavior that you don't "catch in the act. If you find pee on the floor--watch carefully, catch the pup in the act, and "correct" Better, walk enough so that it doesn't happen. Put the dog on a leash, take it out, say "get busy" When it pees or poops, Praise in an excited high pitched excited voice. "Good dog--get busy--good dog" She will learn in days that "Get busy means pee or poop--outside. Consistency is key. This requires much time. It is hard to raise a good well behaved dog on weekends alone. Dogs left alone find something to do. They naturally like to chew. Make sure they have what they know to be their own thing to chew on--not your shoe. Good luck. Bee the leader of the pack, be firm, consistent--never threatening or violent, unless you want a confused and potentially violent snapping dog. It is kind of like training good behavior in a child. Reward--PRAISE--of what you wsnt--and correction of what you don't want Consider crate training--the dog will come to see the crate as his own cave and be happy there, a place of their own to retreat to. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43692225 I pray that your neighbor poisons your dog. And this is the sort of person that gives us a reason to have a dog to begin with. Subhumans that will eagerly break into your house and potentially rape your goldfish. Why? Because what's yours is theirs when they get their hands on it. My grandkid had a pitbull lab mix that stayed here for a while. I'm not overly fond of them, bugger ate my yard chair so he stays with my daughter. But if shit comes to a head, I'll have that dog back here quicker than shit. Nothing motivates an intruder to leave faster than a 100+ pound set of jaws chewing on their nuts. Anonymous Coward User ID: 34353211 United States 07/19/2013 09:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Throw the crate away Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34353211 You want a watch dog, why crate him? He needs to know what area he is to protect. He needs to attach to you as the person to protect. Cant do either in a crate Start now with beware of the dog signs. I encourage my dogs to bark and growl when someone is on the street, but they know 'pizzaman' and 'chinaman' because they know he brings US food. One thing I've always regretted but still occasionally try to teach them. If you know another language (I am Russian) teach them commands in that other language, so only you can command them. A perpetrator will shit when you say kusai (sic em) and the dog charges. My next dogs will be German shep and Doberman. Both are easily trained professionally. Reason for these, a German shep will be up front and in your face. Still breat with kids. A Doberman is strictly indoors, docile at first. When someone breaks in, he will let them BUT he wont let them leave. The Doberman will keep the perpetrator in a corner until commanded to heel. With any dog, I would invest in professional training but remember, with certain breeds you cannot always trust them. Had a friend with a Rottweiler. Kids would ask to come over and play with him every day. Then one day, he ate off the arm off of a 6 year old girl. That is some great advice, especially about the crate and knowing another language!! Thanks chief! So glad you liked my advice. I love dogs and have trained my own since the age of 12 Did you know that only Americans crate their dogs. When I learned from other countries, it makes total sense. The reason was that crating the dog he won't make a mess. SH....T, I would be more than happy to pick up the mess if 1 TIME the dog protected me. I have crates but only use it when a stranger comes to the house....like my insurance man.... Take your new dog around your property perimeter. Let him know what is OURS or MINE. Don't let your dog be friendly with everyone, only family and friends who you expect to come over often. After all he is a watch dog. He SHOULD bark at the mailman, gas meter readers, etc. If you don't know another language you can still make up words or sounds for your commands.....but you need to remember them, write them down. I work from home, so I have the opportunity to train my dogs commands at lunch time. I don't always make it like work, I mix it with play..... E.g. I got a hoola hoop to jump through, those dog agility training tubes they love, even a skateboard. I mix a fun event with a command event. I ride the skateboard with the dog in front of me through my kitchen and they get so thrilled. Then they try it on their own. Enjoy your dog...it is so much fun on top of their job. With your bonding they will protect you with their last breath. I have not had such loyalty not even with a husband. Still, I would highly recommend professional training (remember to use your other language,,,that's where I screwed up). Kintergarten puppy classes are mostly for potty, come, leave it, don't eat it, sit, stay, lay down, sleep. Real protection training would ve had from something like k9 training. The next step. |

Also I speak to my dog like a human using sentences and very consistent word association. Once he got it his level of understanding just took off! It's unbelievable how many things my 6 yo Chihuahua understands. He can even decipher different foods! He'll come over and give me a kiss on command then go back to what he was doing. He also comes in every night to say good night and give me a kiss. And.. he can do amazing tricks! |

Don't make us call PETA yo, don't beat your dog, and if you beat him with a bone. At least that's what tom waits said. Now he could sing, not that dick Timberlake. Someone needs to disrespect that fuckwad till he publicly apologisis for being a horrible man not to mention terrible musician. You noticed how it looks like he has a layer of grease on him lately. Total slimeball trying to work his way up the music ladder. Anyway, hope you enjoy your dog, excuse my rage, I get worked up over people that are as slimy as that dickwad. Hell learn though, maybe even have the grace to tell Britney he's sorry for fucking up her life. Adam hands eve the fruit sometimes too. Oh well, go go gadget craziness off! only the song of silence soothes every soul. |
