I met him when my family was road tripping to Ft. Walton Beach FL in the mid 80's. I had to make a pit stop so we stopped at a restaurant they waited in the car.
I did my business and as I was walking out hoping to be ignored by the people there, just a few at the bar, but one of the guys said something to me so I stopped and talked for a second, he asked me to grab a seat and have a drink (I was 15 at the time). I tried to bow out gracefully saying that there were people waiting for me. We talked for about 7 minutes.
As I started to walk away the guy grabbed my wrist as said something like do you know who I am? If you were your mother you would be fawning over me. Haven't you ever heard of Ol' Blue Eyes? he said some other things that I can't remember, I was pretty scared by this time and the other guys at the bar were saying things like Frank let her go, she's just a young girl and other things. He let me go and said some things I really can't remember, then said you tell your mom that Frank Sinatra's in here, I bet she will be excited to see me. I said thank you, I will let her know, very nice meeting you. Then rushed out to the car.
About 15 minutes down the road I asked my mom if she had ever heard of a Frank Sinada or something like that, she said no, then I said he said something about Old Blue Eyes and he sings and acts. My mom and dad looked at each other and said Frank Sinatra? I said yeah, that's it. My mom got all excited and wanted to turn around but my dad said no, it couldn't be him.
I found out years later as I got into his music and movies that he did live in Florida. But by this experience I could see him being an unhappy guy.
Quoting: Heavenly Alchemy Great story, sounds like him lol, was probably drunk again Quoting: Astral Goat Haha, thanks, I was pretty freaked out, they had been drinking which scared me even more than a strange old (old being relative, I was 15) guy grabbing my wrist. It scared me so much I remember the experience pretty clearly even now. Though it has turned into more of a cool story since it was Frank Sinatra and not just a random scary older guy. By the way, great information on this thread!
