Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43598961 I'm gonna see it when it hits the local $2.00 theater. Yep, I love doing this. Plus you can drink beer and order food at mine. I'm finally going to stop drinking for good... I'll now only drink for evil. Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days lived. |

abhie User ID: 43776231 India 07/21/2013 03:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I gave it a miss as I was tired of those big monster toys that started off in the Transformers series. From what I could see in the trailer, I see two guys 'controlling' the head of the robot. To me it looked like what I had mentioned in my other threads, that of DNA manipulation where they wire-in this entity-DnA into our own. The wheat and the tares. Anybody has an interesting take on it, I would like to read it. But I still wouldn't see it. Hollywood seems to have lost touch with its audience. I mean, really, what a bunch of nose in the air fucktards. Rim was a big dumb movie that was a lot of fun, especially the scene with Ron Pearlman. And one scene in paticular was achingly beautiful, sad and glorious(asian chick origin flashback) Godzilla was a man in a rubber suit destroying toy trains, and its a classic. High theater? you kidding, right? Its a summer movie, and a big thrill ride. Paved In Chaos User ID: 20093252 United States 07/21/2013 05:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It didn't suck, Giant Robots Vs Giant Monsters, what's not to like, anyone who doesn't like it is probably a douche bag. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35742717 I fell asleep watching it. I am the official voice of the "non douche bag" It had some decent CG. I favor Sci-Fi/Horror/Drama movies, in that order. To me, None of the characters were engaging. No hot chicks to lust on. The over use of hand to hand combat with the bots was a huge turnoff. Bots had shit for heavy weapon variety. The monsters were just silly. I didn't hate them. Nor was I frightened by them. I wish they would have spent more time showing us where/why/how the monsters were even on earth. Maybe this was done in the 40min I snored through. I do like the main character in SOA but short hair/no beard, he was Douchey. I will give it another watch, just because I missed the last 40min of it. I never fall asleep watching films either. I was not impressed. I'm telling you, go to YouTube and watch Robot Jox full movie. 80's movie on a small budget blows PacificRim out of the water. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 43774898 United States 07/21/2013 05:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | **SPOILERS I SUPPOSE** Good robot VS monster action. A bit on the long side but good fun overall. The lead actor (Charlie Hunnam) was very vanilla - you won't be hearing about him much. Idris Elba (Prometheus) acted his way through the film as if he was in some Shakespearean play. Rinko Kikuchi (the obligatory 'love interest) Nice looking woman but they sure painted her as weak in spots. She had just as much trauma as the lead actor but no, she had to have a run-in with PTSD -AND she had to be rescued later on. As always with these type of films, the characters are underserved over the special effects. Which is fine- i had no hope that Hollywood would get this type of film right anyway. You just go for the effects on a big screen and ignore the employed humans onscreen. Even with Guillermo Del Toro at the helm there was not any sign whatsover that he had ever made a Pan's Labyrinth. i wanted to see robots and monsters - i got robots and monsters |

The only thing I picked up on was the comment about the dinosaurs being used to take over Earth. Which I believe happened long ago. An alien race wanted Earth, and created the dinosaurs to wipe out all life forms on the surface. The aliens weren't counting on asteroids and volcanoes and the dinosaurs became extinct. But the movie itself? Bits and pieces of other Sci-fi movies all rolled into one. Ron Perlman is funny no matter what ! “So comes snow after fire, and even dragons have their endings.” ― J.R.R.
