Windows 8 is shit

Windows is a television show, that´s why they have to come up with something new. There´s nothing more puzzling about windows 7, it works adequate. Nothing to discuss with your shrink or PC doctors, sellers and retailers, they´re just running out of business.

When they finally fix windows 8 it will be working like windows 7.

I run Ubuntu 13.04 on an old laptop as a webserver and it works amazing. can have a bjillion windows open, along with a shit ton of tabs in firefox. its has about 3-4 gigs of ram and a dual core, not too shabby especially since its yearss old.

i have w7 and its pretty good. i like it.

i use comodo dragon with a bunch of extensions so its really awesome.

I just installed it, downloaded a compatible 64 bi version of Windows 7 and hey presto, my shitty Windows 8 explorer has been replaced by the genuine Windows 7 one.

One word of warning to others wanting to do this. If you have something like Classicshell or Start8 installed, uninstall them first coz it can be a bit tricky uninstalling them when there's a legit start button there.

But yeah, I love you for pointing me in this direction today. You've now made Windows 8 as great as Windows 7!!!

I agree OP, windows 8 is the worst. And cloud based computing, say goodbye to your privacy. All your files up in the cloud, for people to have complete access too. Access your files from the cloud anywhere, so can everyone else with the key. Stay far away from any cloud type stuff.

Yep, the one thing that has made the Linux community mad as hell is the whole UEFI thing. Along with this, PC manufacturers are mad because Windows 8 is hurting their business. And users are mad because Windows 8 is the most bizarre piece of crap OS that has ever been created by mankind. Which all of this could result in a revolt against Microsoft and the end to locked boot loaders.

As for myself, I only run Windows cause my business requires it -- but otherwise it's Linux all the way.

Microsoft overall sales...and stock price took and UBER nosedive for 2 main reasons.

1) Win 8 O/S .....PURE GARBAGE
2) XBox One ..... PURE BIG BROTHER WATCHING YOU


This is a big boost for Linux....and Apple.

Such a great idea changing the entire look and feel of an OS that people have been using for decades.
I'm quite adept at computers but I took one look at Windows 8 and said fuck that shit.
Windows 7 works perfectly fine anyway so no reason to upgrade.

Windows 8 makes Vista look great.

If you have Windows 8 you should definitely check out Ex7forW8, this has literally fixed every problem I have with Windows 8. You get the authentic, fully functional Windows 7 Start button and menu back and the shell prevents Metro/Modern/Wankstain UI from ever loading. All those sad 'app' things can't even load which is great.

I wouldn't have upgraded at all, but had to replace my laptop. The new laptop came with Windows 8 and after struggling with the shit user interface for half an hour, the first thing I did was wipe it and load up Win 7 Ultimate (64 Bit). I had BSODs and various crashes and hangs all over the place, and after reading up on it discovered that my particular laptop model is NOT backwards compatible with Windows 7, so I was stuck with the dreaded Win 8.

Ex7forW8 makes it not only tolerable, but like a highly-stable and turbocharged version of Windows 7. I can't recommend Ex7forW8 enough. And it's free.

And to the dipshit who reckons I'll have to just get used to it and not be lazy and learn a new GUI... fuck you. It's my system that I use daily for work, and if I want it to look, feel and act like Windows 7, then that's my prerogative. Eat shit.

Yes. I had been using classicshell which was good but I still got the shitting Start screen popping up on occasion and though the start menu replacement was good, it wasn't nearly as good as Windows 7.

I can live with the ribbon menu in the system settings etc and the other little 'Metro' flourishes here and there but Ex7forW8 has fixed everything I wanted fixed. Now I have the Windows 8 experience I should have had out of the box.

I saw this coming a long time ago. Before Win 8 was even in beta, I knew it was going to be shit.. why? Every other OS Microsoft releases is shit.. why? The answer is simple, more business.

Let's go back to Win XP. Great OS, everyone was happy with it.. so of course Microsoft has to release a new gem, Vista. They get business from people who "upgrade" from XP, and even if they are unhappy with the new OS, you can not return software.. so you're stuck with it. In addition, all new PCs came pre-loaded with Vista, so if you wanted to "downgrade" to XP, you had to buy XP all over again for your new computer. Dell even had an option to have XP installed on your new computer instead of Vista, but it actually cost EXTRA to have this done. More business for Microsoft. Eventually Windows 7 was released, drumming up still more business as everyone still unfortunate enough to be running Vista quickly upgraded to the new operating system to get out of that crap hole.

Now the cycle repeats. Windows 7 is a good OS, but investors are getting antsy, they need more money, more and more and more. So what's the solution? Release a new shitty operating system that no one will like. It will drum up more business by forcing people who buy new computers pre-installed with Win 8 to buy an additional copy of Win 7, and will also trick people in to "upgrading", further earning them fat dollars.

Expect Windows 9 to be pretty good, Microsoft knows people will be wanting to upgrade out of Windows 8. Right now the only option is to buy Win 7 and "downgrade", but they won't be able to charge quite the premium that a new operating system would garner.

Basically, greedy corporate shitbags being greedy corporate shitbags.

The Mac ecosystem is a jealous one. No, I'd go Linux before going to some solo proprietary system like Mac OS.

Windows sucks, but I don't have to buy overpriced hardware from Apple to run it.

I just ditched my iPhone 5 for a higher-end Android phone. The reason? iOS is a closed ecosystem. I'm not about to trust my livelihood to the same mob of dickheads.

Linux of course is open source, which is awesome and is almost universally acknowledged as the future of "big" format personal computing.

I started watching "Under the Dome" but stopped as soon as I saw them using computers with Windows 8 (and Windows 8 cell phones). Put it this way -- if users in real life can't get along with Windows 8 -- then those people "Under the Dome" are doomed -- lol....

I stopped watching Under the Dome after the second episode. I don't really understand the point of adapting a book if it's going to be completely different and not in a good way.

They already have...it was called OSX Mountain Lion.
