Why does it have all those twinkle glares coming off of it? That only happens when there is an atmosphere. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43823341 What? Earth does have an atmosphere...granted not as good as it once was....what did you think they were talking about... the moon? You have confused me!! But that isn't hard to do sometimes!! |

Lol, if that's a genuine picture then our current understanding of the moon - Earth relationship is completely wrong. Let's go over the figures, the moon is 240,000 miles away from Earth. Earth's diameter is 8000 miles. Imagine for a second that a basketball is the Earth. To figure out where the moon would be, you would need to line up 30 basketballs touching eachother, and there would be the moon. Ok, so with that current understanding, apply what you know to this picture. Does the moon look like it is 30 Earth diameters away from the Earth? |

Am I the only one that saw this picture and had an eerie sense of looking back at myself? Quoting: TheAspartameAddict This concept is a most important point... Humans have now made a way to look at themselves from space which causes an interesting bit of awareness, doesn't it? Kind of a big deal, in a base type of consciousness way. But yeah, super shiny. |

You're assuming that the glare of the Earth is showing its true size and that the Earth Moon system is being seen exactly edge on and not from an angle. Both faulty assumptions. If you look at the Earth and Moon from a distance you COULD see the Moon 240,000 miles away or you COULD see it appear closer, or you COULD see the Moon in front of or behind the Earth. Riddle me this. Seeing as how Saturn is farther away from the sun than Earth is, how is Earth reflecting the light of the sun. Should the dark side of Earth not be facing Saturn? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41113334 Only if you were looking at the back side of the Earth and the Sun was in front of it in the picture. It appears that the picture is viewing Earth beside the sun at some point in its orbit. In that case it could be as much as 93 million miles away from the sun. Same way we can see Venus and Mercury. I've thought that chemtrails actually might be the government trying to help resuce global warming. Earth's atmosphere is more reflective now. Thats also why we have been seeing more abscue rainbows in the clouds and such. Just my thought. |
