Thanks So much. Its great to be reminded how small and insignificant we all are. I'm not being an ass. Its good to remember that our short existence as a species is trifle when compared to the awesomeness of the universe. Quoting: Barton Tiper It is awesome indeed: Yep pretty much inconceivable to our minds That was fun |

This picture is completely fake.Saturn is 9.5 times larger than the Earth, but if you look at it from the Earth it looks way smaller than the Earth looks in these photos supposedly taken from Saturn. This is 100% fake. Quoting: spacey Also, as it was pointed out, the Moon cannot be so close if the distance to the Moon is 30 times the Earth's diameter. No one can be sure of the distances in space and they are completely fake. Furthermore, regarding the glow if the Earth emits so much light how exactly we can be sure that the so-called stars are stars and not planets when obviously they look the same. This is total nonsense. There is no way to be sure how far the stars or the planets are as their seeming distance depends on their brightness only. Are you serious? What can't you understand about distances compared to a picture? How can you say the distance isn't correct based on this picture? You realize Saturn looks small because it is far Way right? Can you not comprehend troll? You're the confused one. Saturn - Earth or Earth - Saturn the distance is the same. The sizes are absolute - Saturn is 9.5 larger. Hence, the Earth cannot look the same as Saturn and even bigger if looked from Saturn. Please read what I wrote before making strange remarks. If Saturn appears to be small when looked from the Earth, how come the Earth appears bigger than that when looked from Saturn. Do you have any common sense? |

There is nothing impressive about the picture even if it is! Oh, I forgot it is impressive we live on a small dot. So it should be equally impressive when you look at an airplane and it looks small, wow so many people fit in that small object. Basically, now we have to be impressed that something is barely seen. Do you realize how far away Earth and Saturn are from each other? That's all I will tell you. Do you even understand what you're suggesting? Saturn is 1.2 billion km away from Earth (~ 7 AU). In the pictures we received from Cassini, the Earth appears to be quite big even though it is 9.5 times smaller than Saturn. However, If you look at Saturn from our planet it would appear smaller than the Earth does in the picture from Saturn. How do you explain that? The pictures must have been taken through a telescope for the Earth to appear that big from Saturn. It is not a real photo of what the Earth appears from Saturn, but what it appears through the telescope.... Also, since the Cassini telescope has a 19cm aperture, it is totally misleading...as the Earth could look the same if you take a picture of it from Mars but using a different telescope with less magnification. So I am asking what is the point? You could go to Pluto and use a huge telescope and take a picture of the Earth appearing the same size as now, does it really matter? Or, even more ridiculous, you can go anywhere near the Earth and use binoculars to zoom out and you can see it like that as well... Last Edited by sorp on 07/22/2013 08:10 AM |

Thanks for proving you didn't understand what I wrote (not that I was talking to you). What I "believe" is completely internally and externally consistent and has science and evidence backing it up hence it is not "belief" it is knowledge as I understand where it comes from, how it is determined, how it fits in with everything else and why it works. It would only be behind the Earth if the Earth and Saturn were lined up. At any other orientation some light reflected from the Earth would be visible.
