Re: is it worth getting a real estate degree
seems like this is a good way to become an independent real estate agent, and not just a worker bee.

You're comparing apples with oranges. If you're talking about a four year baccalaureate degree with a major in real estate I've got one.

I have got a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Real Estate and Urban Development from the University of Tennessee. I graduated a number of years ago.

A post-secondary education in the study of real estate does not even talk about how to sell houses. A collegiate real estate curriculum studies things like corporate finance, government taxation and finance, economics, accounting, etc.

The College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee years ago told us that the "Federal" Reserve was a "quasi public" (i.e. part public, part private) institution. The dirty bums didn't tell us they created money out of thin air.
DSL is better than cable! :)

My cousin went through all the shit to get the R.E. license, got a job with a local R.E. company, then soon quit because it's a cutthroat buisness, all the R.E. agents are backstabbing assholes, good luck!!

Absolutely not. Flip property yourself if you want to make money.

Are you using your degree? Do you work in real estate? Do you have any regrets with this field of study?
