As a matter of fact, I am not a child molester. I am a divorced father of four children. Yes, unlike all you brain-washed teenagers that are shillin for the government and not even getting paid for it, cause again, you are just too fucking dumb, I actually have children. Unlike most divorced fathers, I have my kids every single weekend. It's their mom that I wanted away from, not them. I pick them up every Friday evening and drop them off every sunday evening. It's bad enough the time that I cannot be with them. How would I possibly justify not being with them for all of the time that I am able to be? The point is, I take my four children to the park practically every weekend. You know why? Because that is what they want to do, and I love them. Now, I am only 35, but I'm still too damn old too run around with them on what amounts to playground equipment these days. So you know what I do? I sit on the bench and I watch them. It is my responsibility to know where they are and what they are doing at all times. I see them fall and get hurt if they fall and get hurt. I stop them if they try to run off. No one in their right fucking mind would try to run off with them when I am there. Sitting on the bench and watching them is fucking boring. It's hot. Time is ticking backwards. Did I mention how god damn boring it is? Yet I do it. Because it's my job. Because unlike you spoiled-ass can't dress yourselves for shit tweenagers fresh offa momma's tit and now you fucking know everything except for shit about anything, I understand responsibility, and I value integrity. Now get back to your scripts, tools. Cause daddy said so. |

With level 3 sex offenders creeping everywhere, it is not a shock that an older man watching children could be seen as suspicious. Not everyone constantly carries their wallet when going to a park. He told them his name and address. The police could have simply confirmed he was grandpa by asking the kids. Quoting: Janine69 You can get arrested as a "sex offender" for pissing on a bush when nobody is looking these days. Not an exaggeration. |

Assumptions are being made on both sides. The cops could have handled this better, they appear younger. Lets call them a little green. I saw no verification as to the children and grandpa relationship either. Protection of our kids is FIRST priority. Grandpa should have recognized this. I blame both parties, but the cops could and should have approached situation better. Grandpa should appreciate someone is worried about the kids. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 23632619 United States 07/22/2013 08:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On the other hand, the police don't make the rules. They have to respond to a report of a "suspicious person". They are forced to check up on the situation and, like the officer said, make sure it's not someone with a history of child abuse/molestation/predation. Better safe than sorry, especially with something as simple as merely doing a quick I.D. check. But I do very much understand the grandfather's anger, disgust, frustration, etc. Makes you wary to even leave the house anymore. Anyone could call for anything. Partly to blame is: "If you see something, say something." Did our Federal Government REALLY need to initiate a program about that? Like if we truly saw something suspicious before this program was initiated, nobody would make a phone call? LOL Ridiculous. More fear. More intrusion. More control. Now if this was the Trayvon/Zimmerman case, the person who called the cops wouldn't have called the cops, but would instead have stalked and harassed this grandfather, potentially culminating in a physical confrontation in which the stalker/harasser got his ass kicked and then used a concealed firearm to kill the grandfather. |

That's funny because there are old people who say the opposite, that people are less afraid of cops these days. this is an article from a blog called crabbyoldfart which has a list entitled "the problem with young people today is" and one of the articles entitled "theyre damned fearless" says "Back when I was a boy, young people lived in a constant state of terror. We were frightened of our parents, TERRIFIED OF POLICE, petrified of a vengeful God and lived with the ever-present dread that a misspelled word or wayward spit ball would incite the wrath of a strap-happy teacher." and"They know it’s a damned crime for anyone to raise a hand to them, say a harsh word or even give them a sideways glance so they feel free to THUMB THEIR PIERCED NOSES AT POLICE, sass their elders, fornicate like crack-addled rabbits and generally behave as if they are above the law and immune from any form of recourse." |

Quoting: BRIEF The old man was right, there was no reason to suspect he was, or had, committed a crime... the cops had no justification to ask for his ID. The cops could have watched the guy and if he did anything that justified a stop and check, that would be a different story. However, the guy handled is extremely poorly... and considering the police were, in effect, protecting his own grandchildren -- the guy acted like a total dick. The last couple of minutes -- when he followed them back to their car and engaged them... most cops would have charged him with harassment. sorry but an incident had been reported about him. they had no choice but to investigate. yes, but they asked for his ID and they said they would arrest him if he didn't show it....that is the part where he decided to start filming it. Why do they have the right to arrest him if he didn't show his ID? |
