Everyone knows that America's urban black community is in chaos and it has only gotten worse under Obama. If as much time and effort as was put into these nonsensical Trayvon Martin protests was put into actually improving these areas which are basically violent 3rd World killzones, something positive might actually come out of it.

Second, Reilly finally makes some good points. Our children (no matter race) will idolize thug /hip hop culture unless they are parentally supervised. You can't blame the t.v or movies if you are not watching your children. And some parents even follow trends by allowing their children to play certain games because everyone else is. Parents need to step up and stop blaming the government or outside sources. The problem is inside your own home.

I know a lot of good people from the projects, who made it out because of their parent /parents involvement in their lives. And 70% of those people came from single family homes.

Third, my own opinion on it all. It's a lot easier for people to sit on their horse's and complain about the problems, then to get out there and do something about it. And also get your own house in order before you worry about someone else's.

Supervision is key to making sure our children are chiding the right path. I absolutely wouldn't allow my kids to watch any inappropriate movies or listen to inappropriate music until they were old enough. Cursing in my house got you soap in your mouth and time in their room until an apology was made.
Now that they are older, they can chose their own path but my ex husband and I paved the way for them with morals and respect. So many times people would comment how polite my kids are and how they used such good manners. That's the way it should be.
Yes, my ex and I eventually split up BUT we were together for 10 years and still remain friends. He hangs out with my husband and I all the time and we are united in our care for our kids.
When our son took a plane from SC to NY, we told him to ditch the hoodie and present himself respectfully, not like a thug....before the whole Trayvon thing...like 2 1/2 yrs ago.
My son moved to a more urban area with his gf and started talking like the rap crap, I said, you grew up in the burbs, don't talk like that, its stupid. He stopped it.
When kids are older, you can be there and be their friend but you still have to remind them you are still their parent as well. Be there for them, guide them, love them. They are never to old for that.
My kids and my "adopted" son come over almost every weekend to have dinner and stay over. We watch movies, laugh and. Eat good food. Create memories.

Every Sunday is family day in our house, no friends. I figured I better start it now before life catches up. I play video games and listened to music with them so I know what they play and listen to.

And I fight with my sis in law about my 6 and 7 yr old daughters wearing those tiny little bikini's. Yeah my daughter tried to wear little short shorts one day to hang out and jump on the trampoline with her friends. I was like, nope.
