Audiophiles! Let's talk about gear and great audio production!
So, I'll kick it off with my gear:

2 Jolida 202a amps, Music hall 5.1SE Turntable, Jolida JD9a preamp. I have them bi-amped to a pair of Allison CD-9's.

In my living room, I'm running Marantz MM7055 w/ matching amp (too lazy to get the model, sorry!). This is a 5.1 system, I have a pair of Allison Ones up front, Allison Twos in the rear and an Infinity Beta for the center channel (I may replace this with an Allison Four I have soon).

I have the latest Oppo player (BDP95, I think). That thing just rocks!

Yesterday I was thinking about great production, as I switched from Donald Fagen's latest to Incubus' S.C.I.E.N.C.E.

Anything Steely Dan related, Alan Parsons...just such good production. Parsons' 4.0 Quad mix of Dark Side of the Moon is just amazing. Search the internet, it's out there in glorious 24/96, completely unauthorized and extracted by some brave soul at the studio!

I listened recently to Journey's Escape remaster (maybe the quietest vinyl I own), and Styx's Pieces of Eight. Blown away by these old recordings, they are both great remasters!

Too bad surround music died quickly after a brief resurgence. I really love that stuff. Only a few titles a year come out, thank god for Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree, they're trying their best to keep the format alive!

So, what are you listening to and what are you listening to it on?

Ooops, forgot to mention my Outlaw LF1 subwoofer. I'd love a Velodyne, but this thing is bang for the buck, for sure!

Tool. Man, I love these guys. I have a lot of their vinyl (Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, too). They sound great, but man, are they noisy! APC sounds nice, but given the rarity of this stuff on vinyl, I'm hugely disappointed in the quality of these pressings (Ænima goes for $200+)

Sounds badass. Love Primus.

Sorry OP, I used to be big into audio but over the years had to give up a lot of gear. At this point my contribution amounts to a 7-string BC Rich Warlock :)

Nice! I'm a player, too - got me a Jackson soloist last year and a 2x12 Genz-Benz combo.

How's the BC? I've always wondered about them. Lusting for your Randall! My Pop has a black '72 LP custom and a '54 Telecaster....smoothest neck ever on the Tele & the LP may be the easiest guitar to play, ever!

Yes and no. The 7 is more like playing a low-action classical guitar. Truthfully, I actually still find it a little harder to play than the 6 - but a lot of fun when you start getting all Pink Floydy with that low string and lots of delay and echo.

I have an HK receiver as well, great piece of hardware. Trying to figure out what to do w/ it after I went w/ the Marantz separates. I may power some outdoor speakers with it (they're Bose...yuk). Never trust a speaker manufacturer that won't publish specs!

That combo is sweet!!

The BC, it was the guiatr of the universe when i was 16....basicly it's shit man, the wood's not even that heavy, while they say it's mahogany, this is not the case with BC, my best advice, if you like pointy guitars, jackson/dean/old 90's washburns are the way to go, sat away from BC-rich, unless it's a pre 90's mockingbird with neck thru, most of them are red with a black lining, those rock! the rest=garbage

Ya know, I just love GLP's insight. Audio snobs are everywhere, I don't count myself among them, that's why I started this thread.

I'm curious, is your preferred encoding still DTS? I prefer lossless myself, DVD-A or blu-ray if possible!

What's the last great listen you had, AC?
