The Martin Logans were ALWAYS a favorite of mine! Cost was prohibitive at the time when I first auditioned them! LOL My first wife got my first pair of MandL "Quests" DAMN I miss them speakers!!!
Quoting: St3v3 My God, they are sexy! Would love to hear them! Quoting: Fret Wiz They (IMO) capitalized on Mag's idea, but greatly improved on it by not only hybridizing them by implementing a coil driven woofer, but they also wrapped their cellulose "tweeter" around a curved frame as to disperse the sound unlike shooting it straight at you like the Mags. Quoting: St3v3 Wow, your knowledge is impressive! I found and fell in love with Allisons. I have them all! I wanted to go analog, so I sought out speakers from the 70's/80's. I started with Cerwin's and graduated up from there. I'm learning a lot from you, thanks! Quoting: Fret Wiz Allisons are a VERY smoothly linear speaker!!! My brother-in-law uses them for his HT mains! I'm surprised he 'went for the gusto'! He's a cheap bastid. lol Thanks for the comment above! My dad actually started me as a kid. He was a bass player for a huge (mainstream) group years ago and always had some serious gear around the house that we kids were not allowed to touch...That IS until I started showing an interest! So yeah, it's kinda in my blood I guess! I've been on that ever elusive quest for sonic purity since young! Cheers!
