Mine was all damaged from the Oklahoma Tornadoes. Snake Farm Insurance is being terrible, but after jumping thru hoops and documenting all extremely visible damage from two sf adjusters and my public adjuster and then documentation from service centers we had to drive a total of 8 hours (as we have no high end dealers close to our home) I finally have all the paperwork for these sob's to pay.

I had, Martin Logan Request speakers, purchased almost new in 99. Upgraded to new panels in 08.

So I am about to be depreciated from HELL. Any advice on beating actual cash value ( as some equipment was perfect but aged, kind of like the owner) and replacement value?

I have a plan but would like to hear something from an experienced earth surfer.

I plan on replacing with Summit X from ML
Manley neo classic 500 tube amp, and a McIntosh c50 tube pre amp with tone controls. Might use a Wolcott Audio 440 gold amp.

I will use a media server yet to be determined, I like meridian (used)

I was screwed by State Harm Insurance twice in the past. Swore it would not happen again.

I have gotten a good size check for personal items. We will see what happens on depreciation.

They paid 3090$ for by Les Paul. ACV with more when replaced.

I am plan to replace with the PRS Pauls Guitar from the Private Stock and the Faded Blue color. I cant wait.

I will replace the marshall with the new Mesa Boogie v90
and gonna splurge and a Mahaffey aw99. I also lost a small cube botique amp from Mahaffey, the little lanilei. www.mahaffey.com

SF would have really died if my burmester and german physiks borderlands were gone. They are in storage as the wife dont like my toys, or me sometimes as well. Glad she cant storage me......

Yep - he's the guy. It would fall under the New Age category I suppose. Sonically the production on his albums is excellent - great channel separation and lots of sound effects and various instruments. It's a great listen on high end equipment.

Love records too, and have over 1000 in storage. But, there's a lot to be said for the convenience of digital done right. A zillion FLAC rips on the hard drive, and the Mog service for jukebox convenience and new music exploration are pretty hard to beat. Love the video with the audio and currently amassing a decent concert video collection. Hard to imagine life without quality music on a good system!!

Glad you know about the asylum. Another good place to get used gear at a reasonable price is at audiogon. Front owners (not the brick and mortar or online stores) offer good prices on high end gear. I've sold a lot (and bought a bit) on this site and many guys just roll gear. Again, thanks for the thread, OP.

On another note, thanks ST3. I noted you mentioned audio technica earlier and I agree with you. Some good and resonable priced carts from them. I have a Thorens 160 tt in one of my kids system and I toyed with the AT cart, but went with a reasonably price Grado. I guess that's the fun of it. Trying a lot of gear until you find the fit. The difference is night and day. The best cable is NO cable. I have over three thousand just in stereo cables for my two channel.

We have some nice Audiophile Shops with amazing Arrangements
but i need to use Headphones because my House is made by Wood

Wow...not my usual fare, but music and audio stuff is a big part of our lives. We have to have music in all parts of our little house we restored. Through the years we've had vintage tube gear, as well as monster transistor stuff driving Martin Logan electrostatics. These days due to springy floors and space we've gone mostly digital. A 500 gig hard drive fed to squeezeboxes for easy access, and also the crazy good MOG service where I feel like I have the worlds largest music library at my fingertips. The living room system has been downsized to a chic but awesome sub sat 5.1 from orb audio, and our newly redone screened back porch has a well reviewed and surprisingly satisfying Vizio soundbars/subwoofer that is Bluetooth and can be directed to MOG via my iPad!!

Yeah, my friend has speakers that are worth almost $100K. He has an almost $1 million dollar system. He built his home and his basement is his castle. All it it it a gigantic movie theater, including some fancy set of 10 $2K dollar chairs to finish it off. It's amazing. It's nice to be rich :). He has some top of the line projector as well, and his screen is 154" I believe...I'll have to ask. It's nuts. I'll see if I can get a shot from him and post it.
