Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4959545 It had nothing to do with bullying, they were only playing, and you know, poop poop on the bottom, he said his friend was laughing. Oh that reminds me, he also got a note for peeing in his pants one day, the school nurse had to change him, he said his friend was making him laugh too much and he couldnt make it to the toilet. That's stupid and you are wrong to defend his unacceptable behaviors. What you think is "funny" (hitting his friend on the butt) can easily transition to more aggressive and violent acts. Nonsense. The kid is 5, not 15. Goddamnit. It's that kind of frigging "the kid is only 5 years old" mentality by adults that creates the teenage and twenty-something psychos that shoot up schools. No, it is trying to change normal behavior of five years old by medicating them that is causing problems later in life. Five year olds should be playing. Not sitting down and journaling. |

The rules are made to keep other students from being distracted while learning. The reporting system is to let the parent know that their child is being disruptive and needs to correct their behavior. It's amazing to me that people need to have this explained to them. He got plenty of notes sent home during his kindergarten year though, such as: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4959545 1. In his music class, he couldnt sit still, so he got a note sent home and a red mark for the day. 2. He wouldnt write in his journal the whole 20 minutes, so he got a note sent home and a red mark for the day. 3. In the restroom he was hitting a kid on the butt, so his teacher gave him a red mark for "hitting another student on the bottom". When I asked him about it, he told me they were just playing around. 4. I guess he got tired one day and took a nap, remember he was only 5 and his class was all day from 8 to 3. So he got a note sent home and a red mark for the day. I dont know , but none of these seem bad enough to make a red mark for a whole day for a 5 year old. Am I wrong?? School is about to start again, and I am so worried about what will happen this year, aarrghhh. I dealt with the same kind of issues when my daughter was in kindergarten. My quess he is probably a gifted and talented child who is absolutely bored in the class room. I was told my daughter had ADHD. We took her to the top doctor in the state and was told she was simply bored! She is now 20 years old and has a BSN in nursing. She will begin working on her nurse practitioners license this fall. DO NOT let the school system give you crap or try to medicate you son! My guess is he is bored and is probably very intelligent! Anonymous Coward User ID: 43144788 United States 07/26/2013 10:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I received notes that my 6 year old 1st grader would not sit still. Did not pay attention even though he grasped everything faster than normal and did very well on assignments. He is reading at a 3rd grade level but had to write a note of apology to the gym teacher because he slid on his knees. Every day I received a note about him, non of the behavior I ever see at home. I am not saying he is a saint. I am saying I will teach the bright little boy at home before I put him on meds to make him sit like a robot. All of you teachers on here saying "we don't look for reasons to get your children in trouble", what happened to student responsibility? You are forcing parents to be helicopter parents with your petty notes home. Young adults today are fucked up because thy were never taught their work is theirs, their behavior is theirs. They have been taught "we'll just contact your mommy so she can get it done for you". |
anonym0us coward User ID: 39261030 United States 07/26/2013 11:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are some bad teachers who take an intense dislike to a particular student. My son, in 5th grade, got one and his school year was miserable. Other kids told their mothers that the teacher picked on him all day long. Singled him out. If 10 students were at the water cooler when they should not be only he would be yelled at. Conferences were no help - in fact made it worse. The principal was her buddy. My son was never a problem. Quite the opposite. Just had to get through the year. Thankfully, the next year was a great year. He had a male teacher who had no favorites or victims. He treated them all the same. He has done remarkably well in life since then. Degrees in physics and electrical engineering. |
