I personally dont believe anything major will happen. But since everything is passing close, are we gonna be able to see a bunch of meteor showers or such ? If so, what days?

No, it min. miss distance is at least 5000kms up, and that is a long shot - more likely to be millions of miles from earth.

Of course that is minimal miss distance and not nominal miss distance. So, the minimal miss distance is approximately 15,360,000 km. Hmm, let's hope there isn't that much error.

Bummer.

I suppose this thing will have a tail blowing away from the sun - TOWARDS earth????

So if the main chunk misses us by a bit, how much tail debris will we get hit with?

Which side of the earth would be hit at 11:11?

Does this coincide with the Atlantic Ocean...???

lol you don't need to bump if it's pinned...

Now, I'm no expert on things falling from the sky, but don't meteors usually burn up and shrink before reaching the ground? (for example, that Simpsons episode where everyone gathered into Flanders' shelter just to find out the meteor shrank before reaching the ground).
Isn't this likely possible? Is it not the same situation? Just asking...
That's all fine and dandy.

Also... If we got hit by the tail (from the sun's radiation) would it just dissipate in the atmosphere?

It's just ice, isn't it? And small pieces at that. Right?

If that miss distance is to the CENTER of the earth, then the piece is much closer. Earth = 8000 miles radius.

Well for years now here on GLP this 11:11 has been a hot topic, also there are web sites dedicated to 11:11, so I would say it does have signifigance.

If it's 11:11 in Grenwich (almost noon, I believe the direction of travel (of the tail) would be towards China???

Have I got my directions right?

If so... The U.S. would be away from the impact area...???

Please correct me if this is wrong.

But it could still impact in the Atlantic if earth's gravity pulled it towards us from it's slightly inner orbit. (comet or tail fragments...)

If I'm right, it should be getting dark here in California about that time and I should be away from the impact, I think...???

So...this means that SW-3 BD will have it's "close encounter" with the earth on May 11 3:00 pm pacific daylight time (plus or minus 11 hours, 11 min.)
