Mr Darwin, why did 'evolution' program ageing and death as a peanalty for sin? Isn't man supposed to keep evolving to eternal life?

i have often pondered that illness, physical aging, and eventual death are our very real (and countable, kinda) punishments for a life of 'sin'
but, when you look at that in a broader sense of the world it doesn't seem very fair..
