Suspicious Device Closes Bay Bridge

A full Bay Bridge closure is in effect due to police activity, the California Highway Patrol said.

Transit officials said at 12:52 p.m. a suspicious device was reported on the eastbound Interstate 80 off ramp to Treasure Island.

Traffic cameras show all lanes stopped at the toll plaza.

"Suspicious" can -- and probably does -- mean "just plain unaccounted for", like if somebody left a backpack somewhere.

They gotta get out the dogs and the robot and do all the fancy bomb crap... while folks are trying to drive around on a Friday afternoon.

If this is true it really screws with these events and people moving around the bay.

vendors fair in the city

That's like 150,00 people trying to move, many need to cross the bay.
