There is some cognitive dissonance happening here on Palin's behalf. I'm sure that's how it seemed to HER, but to her from her campaign handler's POV, the moment they realized how dumb she was, or at least how dumb she appears to be in the setting of an interview, keeping her from saying dumb, embarrassing things became a priority.


Dumb people don't realize they're dumb. And when they are hushed they struggle to find answers, it's always a conspiracy against them, internal politics, things like that.

We have a guy like this where I work. He keeps applying for higher positions and never gets them, even when management is desperate to fill the position. He's convinced that it's a rigged game or something, he finds all these paranoid sounding reasons for why they keep overlooking him.

And as he's sitting there complaining about all this stuff to me, all I'm thinking is 'They aren't hiring you because you're a freaking retard of the highest order. You are barely competent, you're a follower, not a leader, you do just barely enough work to squeeze by, and you say a lot of dumb, inaccurate things to our clients'.

Of course, I can't really say this to his face, nor does anyone else, so the conspiracy lives on, and he continues to struggle for the answer.
