Perhaps, but it ended up going just the opposite way. Palin actually revived McCains' campaign, she really revved up the crowds, and I heard some who said that they were taking a second look at McCain after she came on board.

I really don't think that McCain wanted to be President from the get-go. I mean, when you look at some of the speeches given during other Presidential campaigns, they were fiery and accused opponents of doing everything except murdering their Father and marrying their Mother! McCain sort of bumbled his way across the stage and then stood there and said what a nice guy Obama was. It's no wonder he lost, even if the "script" said that was going to happen anyway.
