How do you suppose consciousness evolved?

Alzheimer as schizophrenia is just a illness a lack of something that the body or spirit did not get or had to much. A lack of distinct proteins / amino acids. So how come you no longer know who you are if the chemistry in your brain changes just a tiny little bit? If you had an eternal soul, like religious people claim, then how come you can literally forget who you are... Well the answer lies inside your brain called pineal gland. If you poison it you will killed or at last cripple it. So in that case we are half retarted gods.
